Lot Clearing Underway At Okan Tower Site, Groundbreaking ‘Around The Corner’

Clearing of the Okan Tower site appears to be underway, after a tree permit was issued by the city.

Video uploaded to social media by Okan Tower in-house sales executive Ana Chacon shows the clearing work had started yesterday.

Groundbreaking is “around the corner,” according to a May 20 email from Fortune International Group, which is handling sales for the tower.

Records show that the tree permit was issued on May 17 for the removal of 15 trees. Suffolk Constrution is listed as the contractor on the tree permit.

A total of 15 trees are being removed and replaced, the permit states.

According to a covenant with the city, a total of five live oaks and six royal palms will be planted in the public right of way, per plans on file.

Fortune said that sales at Okan continue to be strong, with 54 sales in under 30 days.

That guy with the crossed arms and pony tail doesn’t show up unless a project is truly ready to begin.

I guess as part of the project they’re bulldozing downtown Miami since no other buildings are shown in the render

And in the Aria Reserve, they will turn all of south Florida into a lush rainforest. It’s just to highlight the building.

Real estate agents really will celebrate anything.

Some people in Miami will come on this site and whine about anything. Now we see somebody telling people what they shouldn’t celebrate…

Geezzz!!!

Getting someone to take down some trees is the smallest cash outlay required. It represents .0001% of the project budget.

Show up with pile equipment and we’re talking.

Oh, my mistake, that’s all they’re reporting.

I guess I need to really learn some reading comprehension.

How do we get access to the link for the build cam like Natiivo and Legacy have. I love watching the area grow and build. If Okan people are listening a build cam accessible to public will build confidence in the project

As good as it gets

Please tell me this is not an official video for the tower. LOL I’ve met higher-budget videos in Windows Movie Maker.

Lot of talk about this particular project, and for a good amount of time. I just wonder if we are witnessing another Skyrise (ghost) building adventure. I do hope that this beautiful building does get built. I guess we shall soon see……

Cool! I’m curious as to why they need a permit to remove the trees. Couldn’t a backhoe do the same while excavating the site?

You’ve clearly never developed anything. Tree removal/Urban Forestry can often be the toughest department to deal with. They require permits for everything.

Seems like a waste of time when the trees are being trashed anyway.
