M-Tower Developer Applies For Warrant From Planning Department

Downtown 56 LLC has applied for approval with Miami’s Planning Department for a warrant that would allow M-Tower to be built.

The application was submitted yesterday, January 17. Approval cannot be granted before February 9 under zoning law.

If approved, the 53-story would rise 629 feet atop a Miami Parking Authority garage.

The tower is proposed to include 440 residential units, along with parking, and a small amount of office and retail.

Zyscovich is the architect.

Except it’s more of a box with less street interaction. I understand the limitations of the site being shrouded by the Downtown Distributor, but it’s planned to removed and really needs to get on the ball and also create design guidelines for innovative architecture with maximum street interaction alone the replacement street.

Would be nice if it were taller, that area can support 1049′. Either way, I am happy to see something better there.

Man, unlike that anonymous above, I’m glad you can read.

The article clearly states, “If approved, the 53-story would rise 629 feet atop a Miami Parking Authority garage” and it still went over this Bozo’s head.

I was wondering what happened with this project… I thought it was tossed on the trash heap like a whole lot of other worthwhile proposals announced for Miami.
