Melo Group Is Preparing To Build Another 442 Units At Cardinal Plaza In Edgewater

Miami developer Melo Group is planning a new project called Cardinal Plaza.

The company recently submitted plat documents to the city indicating that they intend to develop the new project.

Cardinal Plaza will include 441 residential units and an unspecified amount of commercial and retail on a 1.8-acre site, the most recent documents state.

It will be built on the west side of Northeast 2nd Avenue, between Northeast 22nd Street and Northeast 23rd Street.

The project is still being designed and renderings are not yet available, Melo told The Next Miami yesterday through a representative.

Miami’s Plat & Street committee reviewed the replat at meetings in October and November 2020.

I know we all love Melo bc they are quick and follow thru but at some point we need quality over quantity. Imagine DWTN and Edgewater if every building was built by Melo. Sure it would be a fully filled up area which is great, but it would also look cheap and inauthentic.

What’s wrong with trying to make Miami Dubai

Why not? At least Dubai has buildings that stand out, and are recognizable anywhere in the world. Not just the height, but also the architecture. I believe that we won’t see that level of sophistication as long as we keep building condominiums and apartments. Office buildings offer greater opportunity to explore exciting designs, and can attract a more educated workforce, who in turn can revitalize downtown.

Heres the thing….when you build a building it costs money. Private developers have no where near the financial backing that state funded developers in an oil rich country like UAE have. Its simply a financial decision to build based on demand and cost

Yeah I agree but we are no where near that stage just yet we desperately need infill projects in certain areas

Your idea of infill, lends rise to Bronx look-alikes. Even if they’re infill, it does not exclude them from good quality and design.

Stop pissing up a wall. It takes years of schooling to discern what “quality” is actually all about. If you think painting some pictures on a wall shows quality (and Miami has plenty of that) then you’re the one who really has cheap taste!

I’ve lived in Melo buildings, both rental and condo. They’re fine. Just fine. Not the best looking and not “luxury” but definitely not every building needs to be. That’s why they can provide rents at reasonable prices. They’re not the only developer I’m sure other devs can build stunning buildings while Melo keeps providing fine utilitarian buildings

Thanks man. I read from time to time developers like Perez and Kobi Karp being sued by some residents in one of their new buildings because of some kinda building flaw.

At least you’re a witness who can actually point out what you experienced and know by living in some of The Melo Group’s buildings.

Spouting the same line over an over an over is just really monotonous diatribe which I believe most of the readers on this site are tired of seeing.

But aren’t you the contradictory type.. you defend one person’s opinion by saying “He cant have an opinion? Sorry hitler” Which is actually you saying “you have no right to have an opinion about that person’s opinion.

Okay, Proud Boy…
