Met Square Movie Theater & Apartment Tower Coming Soon (Photos)

In downtown Miami, construction is underway on the Met Square mixed-use project.

When complete the project will include an 18-screen Silverspot cinema on the lower levels, along with a Red O Mexican restaurant.

A 38-story tower with 392 apartment units is being built above. The tower is named Avant at Met Square.

MDM, which just purchased the former Miami Arena site to build a 1,700 room convention center hotel, is the developer of the theater complex.

Zom purchased the air rights above the theater and is developing the residential tower.

I would not be surprised if this theater opened before Cinemex at BCC. First they were supposed to open in January and then in February, here we are in March and no announcements have been made. The Public Relations department for that mall has been very disappointing.

I’ve seen all of them Derek. Besides the outfits that Crockett and Tubbs wore, and the pink and pastel colors shown, how does one compose that look on a 1700 room Convention/hotel tower?

Which one will open first – CMX or Silverspot? I’m betting Silverspot.

Has anybody been to a silver spot? Is this like Cinebistro?

No. However the CMX in BCC is like a fancier version of cinebistro

So there are so many apartments there and yet after dark its not a walk-able area.

To you it may seem like there are lots of apartments in the area, but actually, the downtown core is still suffering from a dire need of thousands of affordable apartments that will (along with bars, restaurants, cafes, and clubs) bring more life in an around downtown after dark the way you desire it.

I agree.
Too many empty lots, wasteland and no man’s land still to be developed before the vibrancy

What a hulking brutalist monstrosity with no street interaction, topped with a tower that looks like it was built from baby blocks and Jenga! Comparing this mutated freak of architecture to the Olympia Theater shows you how much “progress” we made.
