Miami Beach Issues RFP To Replace Zaha Hadid Parking Garage With Cheaper Alternative

Miami Beach commissioners have voted to move forward with an RFP for the Collins Park parking garage.

RFP documents state that the facility “will be designed to accommodate the potential conversion from parking use to affordable housing, workforce housing or other uses should parking demand decline in the future.”

Hotel developer Robert Finvarb submitted an unsolicited proposal for the property to the city earlier this summer. Last year, developers Seth Gadinsky and Glenn Boyer had proposed a public-private partnership to build the Zaha Hadid design.

The city is looking to replace a Zaha Hadid design proposed for the garage, which has been deemed too expensive to build. The budget for the project is $23 million.
