Miami Central Station is being delayed yet again due to a delay in Tri-Rail obtaining a federal permit to operate at the station, according to Miami Today.
The station was supposed to have opened last year, but was delayed until this summer due to a miscommunication with Amtrak over train platform lengths. Now, the summer opening is being pushed back to ‘sometime in the second half of the year’.
The Florida Department Of Transportation is managing the project. It stands in sharp contrast to the privately managed but much more complex Port Tunnel project, set to open later this month on time and within budget.
