Miami Congressional District Among Top Income Tax Contributors

The congressional district that includes Miami is among the top contributors of federal income tax in the country.

The analysis by Bloomberg looked at IRS data from 2022.

The districts that paid the most in federal income tax that year were:

  • New York’s 12th congressional district (NYC) – $27.3B
  • California’s 18th congressional district (Silicon Valley area) – $27B
  • New York’s 10th congressional district (NYC) – $25.8B
  • California’s 33rd congressional district (LA) – $20.9B
  • Florida’s 27th congressional district (Miami) – $18.6B

The 27th congressional district includes Brickell, Downtown Miami, Little Havana, Coral Gables, and Kendall.

In 2022, the district included portions of Miami Beach. It was since redrawn and now excludes Miami Beach.

If only we had a representative that didn’t waste all of our political capital on Cuba issues and actually brought back some of the money we send to the federal government for investing in local infrastructure.

Wouldn’t it be nice to get some of that money back to build transit so we dont ALL have to sit in traffic all day to do anything?

somehow the poorest places still have more to show than you’d expect, and the wealthiest places still don’t have streets of gold or all the toys.

We had Shalala and everyone voted her out because she didn’t speak Spanish

False. Shalala was only there because Ros-Lehtinen became an establishment RINO, and it took a cycle to reshuffle the deck.

No kidding. People come here, and they run for office to continue fighting battles in a country they left behind. Focus on your adopted home, please.

I don’t understand that mentality. I would think most people came here for a better life yet they bring their problems with them. Bring the culture we love and leave the rest behind.

At least it’s not being spent on USAID(S).

OK so where are all of our dollars going then? We have shitty infrastructure, no transit, and a joke of a library system. Where is ALL THE MONEY

Alabama, Mississippi and some other red states

If road maintenance and planning for this entire area could be consolidated under a single authority, perhaps the grid system would function more effectively, and traffic would be mitigated substantially.

Law enforcement

And if the cops actually enforced traffic laws that would make a dramatic difference. Worst driving in the US.

Where is that money going ? I paid 25,000$ for 2 condos on Brickell and the streets, school, security, etc are the same since I moved in 1996!

Not to mention the amount of condos built after that year!

Come on

Federal taxes, not state. This money went Biden. ask him

Come on, Brickell has improved by leaps and bounds since 1996, in just about every way.

Voltaire, you did not pay $25,000 in Federal Income Taxes on your Brickell condos.
You might be thinking about local Property taxes.

Having said that, you should be aware that the Miami-Dade County schools have made SIGNIFICANT improvements in the last decade and a half. There were several awards presented for best Urban School District in the neighborhood when Carvalho was the Superintendent, and those gains are being sustained.

Further, since 1996, Brickell has improved exponentially. New bridges, new water pumping stations, new bay walk, new Underline, etc. etc. etc.

a lot of miami latinos i’ve met are hustlers. they go the extra mile and literally hustle non-stop. i know this girl at work who lives in brickell and drives a g-wag and she still works as a shoe fitter at an athletic store for triathletes, taking hustling to the next level

A ,lot do that and a whole other lot collect welfare.

Love the hustle

I agree about the hustle and love the work ethic a lot of immigrants have. If only lazy Americans worked that hard. But racking up debt like that is a big part of the problem we have. You can’t afford a g wagon and condo in Brickell if you work at a shoe store. Maybe she’s doing only fans on the side 🤷🏻‍♂️
