Miami-Dade Preparing RFP For Land Across From Arsht Center

Miami-Dade County is preparing to issue an RFP for land across from the Arsht Center, according to Miami Today.

The county acquired the 61,904 square-foot parcel in August, following a land swap with FDOT.

County officials have been readying the RFP since September. They want a 450-space parking garage to serve the Arsht Center, ground-floor retail, and a design consistent with Miami 21.

When I see that picture it’s just sad to see a fence with shit landscape and a parking lot that ain’t even paved. I mean really? An this is supposed to be a classy place to go but all around it looks like garbage.

Like I said many months ago this area will never be park, the land is just too valuable. This plan sounds like a much better use for it.

So we are going to get both? Fronting Biscayne between the overpass and Arsht Center will be the plaza. Just west of this will be the garage? Is the Plaza the one the Codina group has proposed? The overpass here is really not that high, the garage might actually rise above blocking the Center.

is this going to be a public plaza or a garage

The new FDOT land would be a plaza with the “signature bridge” traveling across it while the county’s new land is just west of that plaza according to the photo above.

The parcel shown above outlined in red is incorrect. The garage will go west of the public plaza north of the highway. It is planned to be tall enough to block the view of the Arsht Center from the new highway.

The outlined parcel is what they gave to FDOT.
