Miami Heat & Miami-Dade ‘Immediately Taking Action To Terminate Relationship With FTX’

Miami-Dade County and the Miami HEAT has released the following statement:

“The reports about FTX and its affiliates are extremely disappointing. Miami-Dade County and the Miami HEAT are immediately taking action to terminate our business relationships with FTX, and we will be working together to find a new naming rights partner for the arena. We are proud of the impact our Peace & Prosperity Plan — sponsored by County Commissioner Keon Hardemon and funded through the original deal — is already having in preventing violence and creating opportunity for young people across Miami-Dade, and we look forward to identifying a new partner to continue funding these important programs in the years ahead.”

On Friday, FTX filed for bankruptcy.

The permanent FTX logo was recently installed on the arena roof:

An investment that generated no revenue or profit, that had no assets, and that was run by a 30 year old with a chia pet on his head went belly-up. Go figure.

That actually sounds pretty cool. Unfortunately citadel doesn’t market to the average Joe. Unless they started a consumer based service such BoA or Chase.

It’s not going to happen.

Except their post-2013 logo and associated branding blow.

Since Bezo’s is scheduled to fire 10,000 people this week probably not going to happen.

Amazon is firing 10,000 people today. The “HQ2” search is long dead. Not going to happen.

Question is will they use helicopters to take it down or just throw it down the roof?

Green roof

The county isn’t passing up millions per year in advertising revenue for a virtue-signaling solar panel project.

Anonymous

Technically they could have a green roof and still have a logo on it

Anon

A roof with that size of span is not engineered to hold the weight of a green roof nor solar panels

Why they don’t give a proper name in the arena and don’t change every 3 years. It’s ridiculous. All about money.

They should auction off the bits of the logo. Proceeds can be used to reimburse investors.

Considering Ryder is a Miami-based company it wouldn’t surprise me. I thought Ryder would at least buy one sports stadium naming rights like the Marlins park but no they never got into the business.

Bringing back American Airlines is the best way to go. Everyone knows it by that and some people still use that name. It’s classic – got a good ring to it and the radio always loved promoting events at “The Triple-A.”

Anonymous

Bringing back American Airlines’ advertising checks is the hard part. The advertising agreement was ended for a reason.

MINDSET

For the life of me I cannot understand what some people don’t get that most of these sporting venues the NBA and NFL (including others) are paid money from these businesses to advertise their names on them. The city don’t just slap a business name on arenas and stadiums because the feel like it.

This will never happen. AA is Texas-based & already sponsors the Dallas Mavericks Arena, the “American Airlines Center”.

It’s same reason Mercedes-Benz ditched renewing their naming of the Superdome in New Orleans–they chose instead to sponsor the new Atlanta Falcons Stadium.

It would be great for a Latin-American company to sponsor the arena. It would bring awarness to the company in the U.S. and call back to Miami’s heritage. Citadel would also be nice to have though. So sad to see FTX go.
