Miami Innovation Tower To Include Observation Deck, Restaurant, And Retail (New Renderings)

More details and renderings of the Miami Innovation Tower have been revealed.

SHoP Architects, which was recently named by Fast Company as the most innovative architecture firm in the world (ahead of Zaha Hadid Architects) is designing the project.

In addition to an observation deck, the 633-foot tower will include several restaurants along with retail and studio space. Plans also call for an amphitheater at the base of the tower.

The $200 million observation tower is expected to help draw visitors to Park West, activating an underutilized portion of downtown Miami. The developer anticipates 1.2 million annual visitors, helping to create 700 permanent jobs along with 1,700 construction jobs.

Miami’s 67-year-old mayor Tomas Regalado has said that he opposes the project, and will try to create legislation to modify the zoning code in order to prohibit the LED skin of the tower.

I like this project and I hope it gets built.

People need to stop complaining.

Agreed, but people will always find something to complain about.

Nothing wrong with an LED billboard, it will bring some more flair to Miami.

Also there is nothing saying the city can’t have a provision for it to shut off at 2am, or something.

I’ll take this and its location over the dumb Skyrise thing every day of the week.

Didn’t Regalado already approve media towers back in 2010?! Does this guy have any credibility left? Miami is a flashy and superficial party town that people of all corners of the world come to visit. This is an image the city has to project, like it or not, it’s our brand! It’s flashy, it’s trendy, it’s young and modern, the more lights the better, that is our identity and what separates us from places like Atlanta or Tampa. This is no longer the old decrepit Miami of the 90s. Those empty lots, that is true visual pollution!! As people drive from the Airport to the urban core, this will be a striking reminder that you have arrived at the Magic City!

what can you expect from a backward thinking polititian who now is only focused on getting his daughter elected Mayor of Dade county and watch out if she who only has interest in her political ambitions not Miami’s if she flops at the county election we can expect her to try to fill her fathers seat. so voters beware.
this flip flopping Mayor who was backing a similar project before now says he was willing to sacrifice the quality of life of the residents because of the financial situation of the city. Now what to believe!!!!!!!

Can’t wait to see 60 story ads for feminine hygiene products and slip and fall lawyers. Awesome!

You’re right. In reality, with I 95 as the main market for the advertisements, they are likely to be fairly low quality.

What can you observe from that deck, besides some drug deals? Maybe SpiderMan will post up there.

Now that I’ve seen these renderings, I like this project even more.

Berkowitz will be paying the naysayers overtime to try an keep this from happening.

I sure hope this and any other visitor attraction gets built, we also need full gambling here too. Things to help bring down the taxes we pay, but some just love the old ways of this dead city.

They boo casinos and go gaga over museums.

Lol at dead city. I guess all the development and proposals are your imagination.

Yeah, that one took me aback too. “Dead city,” what?? If Miami is a dead city stuck in its “old ways” then I’d hate to stumble upon a “living city” cuz the energy would probably electrocute me instantly.

It looks spectacular in the renderings. I just hope it looks like that in person too.

And it’s going to revolve too. Won’t be a bad seat in the joint!

Translation, the mayor did not receive kickbacks.

This monstrosity will kill this neighborhood and all the residential plans. You can try to dress it up – but it’s still a billboard – a 60 story monster billboard with 24/7 ads.

Obviously

Kill what residential plans? One Thousand Museum is under construction. The only other plans in the mix so far for the area are Paramount and a recently annouced rental tower at MWC.

Geez…so much hyperbole………

Those are just recent projects coming up. Not future projects.

Obviously

Oh wow, now I’ve heard it all. Something “planned” is going to kill the “plans” of something that may be “planned” in the future.

Who are you guys…present day Nostrodamuses?
