Miami Has The Seventh Most NFL Fans In The Country

Miami has about 1.4 million NFL fans, putting us in seventh place among U.S. metropolitan areas, according to an analysis by Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight.com.

Silver calculates that Miami still has a large number of football fans, despite the fact that the Dolphins have been mired in mediocrity for decades. Since moving out to the suburbs in 1987, the team has had little success.

The analysis doesn’t break down what percentage of local NFL fans are transplants who remain loyal to teams in their former home city.
