Miami Worldcenter Gets Utilities For New Retail Building

The developers of Miami Worldcenter have signed a deal to connect a new standalone retail building planned next to World Square.

The agreement was dated March 8.

According to the agreement, a total of 15,000 square feet of retail will be connected to the county’s water and sewer system.

The new building will be built at Worldcenter’s Block F West, the agreement states.

Nitin Motwani signed the agreement on behalf of developing entity MWC Retail F West LLC.

The proposed standalone retail building went into construction permitting on February 1, and is currently undergoing corrections.

Block F West is planned as a 1-story building rising 27 feet, with a total of 16,629 square feet of retail, the permit states.

Total hard construction cost for Block F West is estimated at $12M, according to the permit filing.

There have been rumors that Worldcenter may be getting an Apple Store, according to a Tweet from Ryan RC Rea, citing a source.

$12 Million for 15,000 SF.
That all but confirms its an apple store.
No one else would be spending that kind of Money on a building that small.
Great News!

Nothing confirms that until there is an official press release. I’m not believing the Apple hype until it’s official.

The source for all the Apple hype was based on hearsay from a “tech influencer” with 14k followers who posts to promote MWC every 15 min.

Wasn’t the rumor that it would be the largest Apple store in the world? Google says Dubai store is 50k sq ft and NYC 5th Ave store is 77k sq ft. This 16.6k wouldn’t live up to the rumor then.

Gov. DeSantis today moved to revoke the liquor license for Hyatt Regency for allegedly allowing children at a drag show (citing to one blurry photo that does not show the age of the individuals) and costumes of drag performers that are no more revealing than the Rockettes.

Drag is a part of Miami’s culture and local art forms, from originate as far back as the Birdcage (which was an R rated movie shown to children with parents present in movie theaters across Florida 20 years ago). The material described seems available to people of all ages on beaches, movie theaters and music concerts today.

This is relevant, because the land Hyatt Regency sits on is leased by the City of Miami. The People of Miami recently voted in favor of a new development project that would connect and beautify the Miami River Front. Government action like this could inhibit Miami’s growth, identity, and success, and drive art and culture out of Miami and Florida.

I hope that our state leaders stop attacking freedom, parental rights, the LGBT community, the first amendment and real estate rights.

Nice to see the project moving forward! Lot of money for the size of the building, hopefully higher end stores. Wish there was more retail space though.

Hope they try to get Nordstrom men’s store like in NYC!

Anonymous

Would be nice, considering the new Macy’s store and Bloomie’s were axed for “high-street retail,” as if Bowelero and an overpriced sports bar fit that description… Nordstrom is one of the more healthy department stores, as it’s still controlled by the founding family.

“Miami Worldcenter” is still kind of a word salad with little information about what it is – no longer really a “world center” more of “Park West Plaza”

Anonymous

I think world center is a dumb name… not even close to some of the great neighborhoods and districts around the world. I think most people will simply call this area downtown

Anonymous

It’s a bit dramatic for what it is.

I’m routing for it to live up to the name. It could be a great supplement to Brickell.

judging by how much people like to shorten place names, it’ll probably be “Worldcenter” or just “Paramount” or “World”

MWC should try to get an indoor ice skating rink. What does every Florida native and transplant wish they could do in FL? Ice skate, like in Rockefeller Center

Anonymous

Yes with falling snow!!

Simcity Player

That would be cool, I suggest a side bar/lounge with falling snow. I know they have ice bars, but a bar with snow sounds fun and innovative. Someone take this idea and skate with it 😉

Anonymous

Okay but where? That’s an interesting suggestion but you need an enormous amount of space for an indoor ice rink – there is a scaled map provided above – do you see anywhere a spare indoor ice rink could go…? Think, people.

That Brickell Guy

Yes, Block F West. Most ice skating rinks are enclosed with no views, except maybe the one in Chelsea Piers if my recollection serves me well.

Being in tropical Miami, it could be experiential to ice skate in an all glass enclosed space where people can walk by and see ice skaters like they do in Rockefeller Center.

G.o t,o New York then. Idk why people want incorporate every little piece of their favorite city here. Let Miami have its own flavor and novelties. If every city were like each other, they would all be bland.

Anonymous

Um, plenty of cities have ice skating rinks, so why not Miami? What would you like to see, a tango stage? Go to a bar in Hialeah then.

Would be better than the low-class bowling alley proposed.

I wish the design was more innovative. I love what they build in Dubai, here everything looks so basic.

We have renderings. Isn’t that what’s going to look like?

Anonymous

These are conceptual renderings from earlier on in the developments lifecycle. Not everything depicted in them has come to pass.

Yes, and from concept to reveal, the final product gets more boxy and boring.
