Yeah – unfortunately they’re escaping high tax liberal blue states coming to Florida for the low taxes and then in Florida they vote for the same high tax liberals they ran away from

Pretty sure it’s the other way around.

Anonymous

How ? They’re literally moving away because of liberal policies and still vote Blue thus spreading those failed policies. Now people on this site will down vote MoMo and mine comment and refuse to give a logical rebuttal.

Anonymous
Anonymous

Yeah, you and MoMo sure have this migration to Florida thing figured out. People in those states with “liberal policies” have been fleeing them and relocating to Florida for decades and decades and one of the biggest reasons for that SURELY didn’t have anything to do retirement, or the weather.

You guys are so smart.

Anonymous
Anonymous

If it is only the weather, then go to Cali…oh wait, they are retired and want to afford to live…so they go to FLORIDA!

And yes, those “retirees” you are preferring to keep their voting record and have long been the cause of liberal strongholds and failures in Broward. Thank them for the failed school system in Broward, failed BSO, failed infrastructure waste (i.e. the Wave), failed supervisor of elections office, and the pavement over the everglades (Pembroke Pines, Weston, White Rock Quarry).

In short, MoMo is right, people move to Florida for the good life (low taxes, yes weather, jobs, strong economy, diversified housing market, etc.), but are slowly messing it up by bringing the same voting habits down here.

Anonymous
Anonymous

Well, if people are moving to Florida for all the things that you listed, then why for longest have they been trying to reverse the brain drain in Florida?

Anonymous
Anonymous

Because Miami people live in their own world, Florida has one of the worst education systems in the country. Talk about that Mr. Republican

Anonymous
Anonymous

When you say jobs, are you referring to low paid retail jobs?

Anonymous
Anonymous

Nope, I mean a diversified field of jobs, from corporate HQs like AutoNation, Publix, Seminole Tribe, Burger King, World Fuel, Chewy, Royal Caribbean, Fidelity, CSX, Ultimate Software, just to name a few, along with corporate outposts like American Express, Apple, Amazon, yes one of the largest leisure industries in the nation with our theme parks, malls, and resorts that create entry level to upper management jobs, home to one of the largest marine industries in FtL, countless of high employment universities, and some of the nation’s largest school districts, and 1.6m small business with over 400,000 of those having multiple employees.

In short, yes Florida has retail jobs, but also countless other jobs. BTW if low paying jobs is your concern, high migration is actually the leading reason why employers can pay little. A high concentration of low skilled employees, i.e. migrants from impoverished nations like Haiti, Cuba, etc is one of the leadings causes for low payment in those fields. Why do you think big business loves migration…cheap labor! You want to have retail/restaurants pay more? Limit low skilled workers.

Anonymous
Anonymous

And low paying jobs

Anonymous

Maybe the Republican party shouldn’t be so ass-backwards with their social views. Preaching “freedom” from the view of the religious conservative, which aims to strip individuals of their freedom to be. Florida would be a good state for fiscally conservative socially liberal politics.

Please research the bottom 10 poorest states. 9 are very red republican but you can google it. People stop voting against your own self interests. The tax cut went to the top 1% of americans. And you ppl just ignore it. Trump just wants to win at things. He doesn’t care about the middle or lower middle class. He’s a crook & con artist and everybody in nyc has known it for 30 years. You don’t care about him not paying taxes. And if i went to the store and stole a bottle of water i would be a felon. Smdh!

Anonymous

Eric, like the mosquito at Haulover Beach said, “Where do I start?”

Going to a store and stealing someone else’s property is the opposite of creating value/getting paid, and trying to KEEP YOUR property from getting stolen by the tax man.

Other way around? I actually live in Florida. People actually move here (FL) from NY, Illinois, VENEZUELA, CUBA, HAITI, and other poorly run states/counties because we are doing it right.

I love migration and growth, I just wish people understood the policies that caused them to leave, and would learn to leave those voting habits behind.

Most of them are retired baby boomers, who don’t pay property taxes here and because they have one foot on their grave don’t give a Fucking damn about our state having the third lowest minimum wage in the country, not having a descent public transportation system, and others having to deal with a whole bunch of old farts driving at 15 m/h on I-95 at 5:00 pm to catch the early bird special at the nearest IHOP.

Soros openly donates to far-left think tanks and rent-a-mob terrorists. The closest “evidence” the left has about Russia is Trump wanting to invest there, as if collusion means investing in a major world economy. Hell, Hillary invested more in Russia with her uranium deal, Middle East oil pipeline pet projects, and that fake dossier used for beginning this whole hoax. Besides, what exactly has Trump ever done to benefit Russia since winning anyway? The last time I checked, the sanctions are still in place and we’re annoying their allies like Iran with new sanctions.

HA! “Soros openly donates to far-left think tanks and rent-a-mob terrorists.”

If Hillary was involved in some kind of deal with Russia and uranium, why didn’t the Cons who controlled Congress launch another one of their tax money wasteful investigations and charged and convicted her of treason? When Conold Trump was running for president, did he say he would threaten a government shutdown if congress didn’t give him five billion dollars for his border wall? So if simply renegotiating NAFTA with Mexico is enough to pay for his border wall, why is Con-old Trump bugging congress for money?

Anonymous

“So if simply renegotiating NAFTA with Mexico is enough to pay for his border wall, why is Con-old Trump bugging congress for money?”

It’s the money up front. Mexico will pay for the wall indirectly from revenue with the USMCA and less foreign aid spent on Central American crapholes south which Mexico will have to deal with when economic migrants’ phony asylum claims are denied.

“Conold Trump, while campaigning for president said that he was going to repeal Obama Care and he was going to give us the best healthcare ever.”

He just needed one damn vote in the Senate, and now we have plenty. Obamacare is effectively going to die and incrementally will be replaced. It’s not like Obama got everything he wanted, and he had the whole Legislative Branch and a left-leaning Supreme Court.

The STATE TAX EXEMPTION was the main reason I supported the Trump Tax Cuts. Why should Florida subsidize NY taxes??!

Anonymous
Anonymous

“Florida subsidize NY taxes?” When, how?

Anonymous
Anonymous

You have that backwards.
The State And Local Tax deduction meant a New Yorker would pay less FEDERAL tax than a Floridian.
Simplified:
NYC worker makes $100k taxable inc.
FL worker makes $100k taxable inc.

And both are at the same effective FEDERAL tax rate…say 20%.

NYC worker pays about $17k in SALT = State And Local Taxes.
FL worker pays Zero in SALT.

It used to be, that NYC worker would get “credit” for his SALT payment and only send $3,000 to the FEDERAL gov’t and $17,000 to his SALT.

Each worker paid $20k total in this year, just paid to different governments.
NYC paid $3k to Feds.
FL paid $20k to Feds.

Many of my leftists friends talk about how everyone should pay their “fair share”. They talk…
Once you think it through, they are likely to put their money where their mouth is.
