Motorsport Tower Submitted To UDRB For Review: ‘Instantly Recognizable’

Plans have been submitted to build Motorsport Tower in Miami, next to a new train station planned along the Brightline tracks.

Motorsport Tower is proposed to rise 12 stories include:

  • 206,352 square feet of office
  • 79,676 square feet of commercial/retail
  • 390 parking spaces

The newly planned Brightline commuter rail station is directly adjacent to the site, according to a letter from the project architect. The property is also a part of the Magic City Innovation District.

In a letter to the UDRB, project architect DB Lewis wrote that his design for the tower would be “instantly recognizable” and “will substantially enhance the surrounding urban context with its architecture and pedestrian friendly uses.”

Imperial Capital Group, LLC is the developer.

Miami’s Urban Development Review Board is scheduled to have a hearing on the proposal on May 18.

Seems pretty good. And the rendering appears to show that there will be a rooftop restaurant. The view must be sensational.

Interesting design…looks dated yet modern 😂

That’s because it’s “Dated Miami Modern,” (DMM) a conservative (and cheaper) style associated with Miami.

There is nothing cheap about this building. You see more glass than stucco which gives it approval of authenticity.

Architect: so what kind of design are you envisioning?

Developers: an air filter like the one in my truck

Architect: made of glass so we can pretend it’s attractive and interesting?

Developers: YES EXACTLY HOW DID YOU KNOW

Better the air filter than the rectangular box it can in.

Right!
Enough of these skyscraper tributes to modern marvels of achievement.

I propose the Birkenstock Tower!
All furnishings will be supplied from Etsy, There will be no parking, no air conditioning, and no refrigeration.

The lobby will have a Trader Joe’s, of course.

Laugh if you want, this city glamorizes fast driving at every turn. Two people biking died yesterday getting run over by idiots speeding. Miami doesn’t have even the most rudimentary of transit systems. But yeah, this city isn’t the FDOT’s bitch or anything.

Well that would be the Orlando area, where I-4 was rebuilt for the third or fourth time, but even they have Sunrail and TOD better than most Tri-Rail stations, despite only being online for ten years.
