To Move UDB, Turnberry Becomes Big Money Donor

Turnberry Associates, controlled by the Soffer family, is the top donor this year to Dade County commission election campaigns.

An analysis by the Miami Herald reveals that Turnberry has donated over $70,000 since last year.

The developer is hoping to have Dade commissioners vote to approve a controversial plan to move the Urban Development Boundary so that it can build Doral Crossings, a water park and 850,000 square foot mall.

Other large donors include Russell Galbut, Jeff Berkowitz, and Florida East Coast Industries.
