Nader: My Proposal Is Worth $150M More To MDC Than Related

Gary Nader says that his proposal to build a Latin American Art Museum will create $280 million in value for MDC, compared to just $131 million that the college would benefit from Related Group’s proposal.

The calculations include a cost of construction that is $55 million higher for the LAAM, in part thanks to a much larger museum. Nader would also donate art that he says is worth $60 million.

Nader also notes that the Related proposal would allow the developer to pay $5 million for 5 years without building anything. That could help Related keep a competing condo project off the market (and a competing museum to PAMM) by simply keeping the land vacant.

I hope Nader wins. Would love to go to a museum packed with over 1000+ works of different artists.

Nadar is right. MDC is making a huge mistake.

I like the fact that he is donating $60,000,000 worth of art. That is like buying a condo with all the move in ready furniture at no extra cost. Nice architecture, really cool and catchy name(LAAM), benifitting MDC more. . . . I like it a lot.

Tired of Related Group, they making Miami ugly and boring city.I can’t find any Related building I like, all same ugly boxes. And what about that Brickell bridge, the ugliest think I ever seen.Cross that bridge is like a nightmare. Miami deserve better than that.Same with Brickell Avenue. Total disaster.Landscape is old and ugly. Do you, people from Brickell ,ever go to Aveantura???
Please go there and learn how to build a beautiful city.

I disagree with you comment regarding the Brickell Avenue bridge. It’s very elegant and serves as an homage to miami’s first residents: the Tequestas.

Aventura a beautiful city?
Where have you been hiding?

I agree with you, but I think (I hope) he meant that the building was world class. I think it is as well. Not as nice as Calatrava’s design for Cleveland’s museum. The collection at PAMM sucks though.

JP and the Related group have zero intrest in housing another museum in Miami, they only want the land. If they win this bid, Miami politics is even dirtier than we think!!! Nadar’s plan and partners are the real deal…
