New Project Across From Omni Proposed To Top Off At 580 Feet

A new tower across from the Omni is planned to top off at 580 feet above ground.

The project was submitted to the FAA yesterday.

It is proposed on the former Sun Electronics property at 511 Northeast 15th Street, purchased last year by Manadala Holdings with the intention of building hotel.

The company has met with city officials this year with plans to build a Courtyard by Marriott hotel on the site.

The Omni could become very busy in the next couple of years with all of these announcements!

It would great if the developer made a deal with Diocese to acquire the adjacent block with its 1960s residence as part of the redevelopment, and buy any air rights from the church. A new residence can be built behind it with the funds. Trinity Cathedral is a beautiful gem, and development should coordinate with and respect the church’s aesthetic, along with it’s own courtyard, haha…

I am very happy to see these plans for the Omni area. The first condominium I ever purchased was at the Venetia and I have fond memories from the area. However, I am a little surprised that it will become Courtyard by Marriott since there is a huge Marriott right next door already, I realize the two are different in style and in price but it is still a little odd for them to be so close to each other. Anyway it is good for the area.

Thank God this area is being revitalized. So close to the beach, downtown, Wynwood, Midtown and access to Brickel on the M.Mover. The Venetian Causeway is a plus. Why has it taken this long?
