One Brickell City Centre Supertall Approved, Groundbreaking Early 2023

Get ready for Miami’s first-ever supertall office tower.

City commissioners voted unanimously today to approve expanded floor plates needed to build the 1,049-foot One Brickell City Centre, in a second and final reading.

Approval today came just a week after a commissioner demanded more information on a deal to build a new fire station at Brickell City Centre, delaying a vote.

Floorplates in the 80-story building will be the largest ever built in the city.

In a statement released following the vote, a representative for One Brickell City Centre said that construction will begin in early 2023.

Demolition permits will be filed in the coming months, the representative added.

“One Brickell City Centre will be the most dynamic office building in the city,” the statement said.

The commission vote to approve the expanded floor plate size “will enable the world’s leading companies to foster greater collaboration and connectivity among their employees,” according to the developers.

The developers have previously said the project will have 1.6 million square feet of Class A office space.

Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross’ Related Companies is partnering with Hong Kong-based Swire Properties to develop the project.

Is that you Carollo?

Miami commissioners cannot serve more than 8 years. Carrollo was elected for a second term. He will serve 8 years and will then run for mayor.

Yeah but still 2 roads S Miami ave and Brickell ave that are clogged up as is every single day. Now add all the people coming to work in addition to 830 Office building opening up in few months and we got ourselves standstill traffic. Not smart to keep adding these buildings. We need parks and roads

YOU, not WE, need more parks. WE, need a better mass transit system.

One bayfront ?! … it’s been 15 years in the making …new renderings most likely to be released in 2024 …. Lol

I guess there’s at least one BBC out there that counts for the list too lol

Brickell Boss

Truly iconic, like how the rendering doesn’t include 830 Brickell across the street. But once these two office towers are open this area will be bustling.

What about parking?

Anonymous

830 Brickell is not on Brickell Avenue nor in the same corner so why would they have to include it?! Nice building though !

Such a transformational project. Brickell has always been a magnet for capital and talent but with Citadel’s recent move, and now this, this area is really going to another level with great companies and high paying jobs moving there. Thank you Related New York for developing this right after Hudson Yards. Most likely, all ready, have all the tower rented with Tenants from their New York office buildings that want to move here.

Great news! Hopefully Swire can convince their airline, Cathay Pacific, to start flights to Miami now!

Anonymous

With the way things are going in Hong Kong, and as it relates to Mainland China, I doubt it. More like Swire is expanding its business elsewhere, should they have to decouple from Chinese holdings.

Heck, first I wanna see it bumped up to just 1100ft.. and there are some people on this site making excuses to why it can’t!

Yeah it makes no sense at all. If you stretch out the flight paths out to the east, downtown is free and clear. Even with wide boundaries around each path.

I’m not knocking anyone per say in here, but the volume of superficial comments on aesthetics is “very Miami”. Who doesn’t love beautiful architecture – I get it, BUT you couldn’t pay me to live in Brickell. The density and traffic clogged streets is nightmarish. I don’t even visit a friend there (life rule). And now….add in Supertalls for more congestion. The streets can’t handle. Rather than all of you mindlessly drool over superficial aesthetics (shallow)….. You need to consider smart urban design and planning. Case in point: lack of green space. And for the record…. Waiting for the elevator 15 min on 34th floor is not “luxurious”…….. And that’s not even getting out the garage. I’ll pass.

“you couldn’t pay me to live in Brickell. The density and traffic clogged streets is nightmarish”

I wonder why some people like you think that everyone should be concerned about your nuances?

Anonymous

I have been in Miami for 10 years and can confidently say you couldn’t pay me to live anywhere OTHER than Brickell/Downtown in Miami Dade. To each his own!

Will someone please explain in simple English terms what is expanded floorplates????

Anonymous

google it…

Anonymous

It means they plan on making all of the floor sizes larger (more square footage) than they had previously planned.

Anonymous

Fatter building ?

F the FFA

Yeah. It will basically be a really girthy tower. Which is what top tier companies demand. It’s all about open floor plan layouts and it usually provides a lower $/sq ft.

Another eye sore. That many high risers in a subtropical climate is not only creating yet a bigger traffic jam it is destructive to the entire region.

Anonymous

What does the climate have to do with anything? You’ve never heard of Singapore or Cairo? And the way to deal with traffic jams is not a more sprawling and less tall city, but better public transportation. Give people an alternative to using cars.
