Owner Of Flamingo South Beach Planning To Build New 14-Story Tower

The Flamingo apartment complex in South Beach, which is currently being rebuilt, could soon see a new tower added on the property.

The new tower would rise 14 stories but include just 34 units.

The apartment will be large and luxurious, the developer said, with 2, 3, and 4 bedrooms.

Miami Beach has already approved a five-phase development plan for the property. Almost all of the plan is now either complete or under construction, including a gut renovation of the North Tower.

Even with the new tower, the overall unit count at the 16-acre Flamingo will be dropping by 206 units. The unit count in the North Tower alone is being reduced from 614 to 446, as part of property owner Aimco’s plan to build larger, more family friendly units.

The new tower will begin construction shortly after the fifth phase of development is complete. The sixth phase with the new tower is scheduled for Miami Beach Design Board Review on June 1.

Stantec is the architect.
