Panorama Tower Developer Is Appealing Approval Of 1111 Brickell Bay Drive

Panorama Tower’s developer is opposing a city decision to approve a competing 61-story apartment tower down the block at 1111 Brickell Bay Drive.

The city approved the project in May despite a letter from TWJ 1101 (Panorama’s developer) in December 2016 opposing the proposed new tower at Yacht Club at Brickell. A formal appeal was filed days after the decision to approve.

Concord Aztec Brickell LLC, which is leasing space at Panorama to open a Hyatt hotel, also wrote a letter in opposition to the Yacht Club at Brickell proposal.

NYSE-listed Aimco is proposing to add a 61-story tower with 572 apartments at the Yacht Club at Brickell property, while refurbishing an existing 32-story apartment tower on the site. In addition to apartment units, the existing tower could have hotel rooms under one of two alternatives.

Miami’s Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board is scheduled to vote on approving or denying the appeal at a meeting on July 31.
