Panorama Tower Developer Is Appealing Approval Of 1111 Brickell Bay Drive

Panorama Tower’s developer is opposing a city decision to approve a competing 61-story apartment tower down the block at 1111 Brickell Bay Drive.

The city approved the project in May despite a letter from TWJ 1101 (Panorama’s developer) in December 2016 opposing the proposed new tower at Yacht Club at Brickell. A formal appeal was filed days after the decision to approve.

Concord Aztec Brickell LLC, which is leasing space at Panorama to open a Hyatt hotel, also wrote a letter in opposition to the Yacht Club at Brickell proposal.

NYSE-listed Aimco is proposing to add a 61-story tower with 572 apartments at the Yacht Club at Brickell property, while refurbishing an existing 32-story apartment tower on the site. In addition to apartment units, the existing tower could have hotel rooms under one of two alternatives.

Miami’s Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board is scheduled to vote on approving or denying the appeal at a meeting on July 31.

Oh feck off. Is it really that childish? I don’t want your sand castle near my sand castle.

So true! i think hes probably worried the building will block most of the bay from 61 and down.

At 750 feet, this will have more than 10 feet per floor unlike 1101, so this will block well into the 70s floors on Panorama.

I wonder if tibor hollo would like the plaza condo opposing his panorama tower project before it was built

What is good for the goose is not for the gander!!!!!

I think you have your buildings mixed up. I live on one of the top floors of the plaza facing the water and my view has barely been affected (like 2% of my view) 1060 brickell bond and 1010 are the towers who really got screwed by panorama.

Rich coming from someone who just built the tallest building in FL and with thousands of parking spaces.

While expected – this is why we have laws that public officials MUST apply evenly to all developments. We can’t have a few unelected officials picking winners and losers based on how much they like someone.

This development did not follow the guidelines set forth by the community and requested a ton of waivers to help them make a profit. They should now expect those around them to challenge the interpretation of those rules, since they are VERY vague. These waivers are basically giving away a lot of things for FREE — which is very unfair for those of us who live in Brickell.

References as to what is being given away please.

Thanks Tucker. I read it in your cover letter.

These are all minor waivers, except for the required parking, which Tibor well knows can be satisfied amy number of other ways. A lot of b.s. really, just to push around a competitor. Ironic Tibor hires developer hit man Tucker Gibbs. That couldn’t have been easy.

Exactly. Miami 21 isn’t perfect, but the government taking bribes to allow every single variance under the sun doesn’t help at all.

“These waivers are basically giving away a lot of things for FREE”

Please…what Miami has been experiencing is being hampered under a ton of archaic rules, bureaucratic red tape, and cronyism that has been doing nothing but stifling development that the people of Miami can really partake in and have fun spending their money visiting. I mean, for example, stop demanding developers set aside a few so-called “affordable units” in some pricey high rise apartment building and build more that just a few really affordable high rise apartment buildings. Stop playing with us.

Love how the renderings don’t even show Panorama in them.

It’s more likely Hollo doesn’t want competition for his proposed “The Towers by Foster + Partners in Brickell” boring twin boxes on the Villa Magna site than Panorama Tower.

Yohan Perez

Why would any sane minded person want to live in the traffic clusterfuck called Brickhell. Plus there is never any parking for visitors.

Anonymous

Because there is a very high concentration of people with college educations. People who can not only spell, but compose thoughtful posts. The neighborhood amenities are extraordinary, the jobs pay well, and Brickell is very clean and safe.

In few years the traffic in the area will be a nightmare ….. there are no alternatives roads and the Brickell bridge has collapsed with no intention from authorities to make any change …….

Anonymous

Brickell has metromover + metrorail.

Anonymous

Have you rode it lately? It is nearly faster to walk than take the metro mover because it is so poorly timed. It waits at some stops for many minutes…

Anonymous

Whaaa!!!…but Brickell still has the Metromover!

Anonymous

Ok ok, Ill give you that…. It does take forever

Edin

I didn’t know the Brickell BRIDGE collapsed? Finally some good news from Miami.
