Permanent Traffic Cops In Place Around Met Project As Density Increases

There are now traffic cops permanently stationed at the intersections surrounding Met 1, Met 2, Met 3 and Met Square, which are some of the busiest in Miami.

It will only get more congested. Met 3 is in the process of leasing 462 units above a newly built Whole Foods, while another 391 units above a movie theater and restaurant complex are under construction at Met Square.

There are two people stationed at each intersection around the project. It isn’t clear who is paying for them.

They have been there for close to two months now. Its good mainly for the pedestrians as the traffic never cares who has the right of way. Also, they are not cops, they are Public Safety Aids. They can’t give tickets, they are there just to direct traffic, keep intersections clear and walking safer. Fine by me.

They’re great. They keep assholes from blocking the intersections and crosswalks. And as someone who uses my bicycle as my main transportation, it’s cool to often be given crossing priority.

Good, this will increase pedestrian awareness and caution for walkers

We should increase awareness for drivers!!!

Seriously? Drivers have all the awareness and infrastructure already. How has that turned out? Time for some change so we can make Miami great again! Drain the oil!

Only in Miami does this get down voted. Yes, praise cars in one breath and pray to be a global city in the next

Look how monolithic that corner of the base of monarc is, it’s worse than the 1980s SFC parking garage.

I could not be happier about this, for those of you who are familiar with this intersection, too many people make illegal turns or just cut you off. Last week a cop nabbed one of these hounds and gave him a ticket. Traffic cops are welcome for sure!

They should put a police guy in the small green parcel between The Plaza and Panorama Tower to fine all the dog owners that don’t pick up after their dogs

Lots of dog owners that don’t pick after their dogs are people that have an rescued dog and adopted it, they feel so full of themselves that they think the rest of humanity have to pick up their animals dung

Cells phone should come with a plastic bag to pick up dog poop ( there are for free on the corner of The Plaza) that is the only way millenniums will learn to be polite and pick up dog crap …
Owners are too busy texting while dog poops they can’t pick up after

Not so much a young adult problem. There’s a strong correlation between paying $2500 rent plus pet fees and feeling entitled to not giving a shit about dog shit.

Consider yourself lucky that you don’t find it more often on your sidewalk instead (cough cough Camden/Axis tenants).

I’m lucky enough I live in brickell key and the security there is very strict ( they are the POOP NAZIS) and also people there are more consciente of their enclosed neighborhood
But also there is more mature crowd, with kids and also with higher rent or ownership and they are more careful

I was walking my dog to Mary brickell village and several times I have to stop near the Plaza and there is a bag box for dog owners to pick
And I see them with their dogs ignoring the mess they leave behind
The fines for not picking after dogs go from 50 to 500$
I hope police will in force that or condo security will be allow to fine them
(:-)

Dog poop goes into the ground water and also creates an unhealthy environment for your dog. My dog got infections from all that “crap” when I lived on Brickell. Moved to Brickell key and he has been fine. I will personally call out someone if they don’t pick up after their dog.

On a different note, does anyone know why there are so many cops constantly stationed around Southside Park/that Exxon and Soma at Brickell.

To keep derelicts away from Brickell.

Mayor Giménez and Mayor Regalado should make a priority to build the tunnel below the Miami River to aliviate the traffic there.

They would rather build a signature bridge to the beach and restore the Marine Stadium lol #priorities

To be fair, the signature bridge is a State of Florida priority, not a local politician priority.
