Photo: Construction Site Of 44-Story, 506-Unit Brickell Apartment Tower

An August 30 photo shows the One Brickell site where a 44-story, 506-unit apartment tower is being built.

A total of three towers are planned at the site, with one currently under construction.

Two tower cranes for the first tower were installed in early July.

Two additional tower, rising 75 stories and 82 stories are planned at the property. Archaeological excavation has been ongoing in the soil where the 75-story tower is planned.

Go Baccarat! Hope they really wow us with the river walk.

That would be the least they can do for the city after scrapping Miami’s most historical finding. Should be more than just a river walk and grass, it should be a waterfront public destination.

People in Brickell don’t care about history. They would prefer the condo tower.

Anonymous

No that’s not true. We have enough condos. We want to add parks, museums, ground floor retail, and culture.

Anonymous

Speak for yourself. We need many more condos. There are still so many vacant lots.

A Vision for Brickell + 20 Years

In the year 2043, Brickell had transformed into a breathtaking urban utopia. The skyline was an intricate dance of sleek glass towers that reached for the heavens, each one an architectural masterpiece. The city had embraced sustainability, with rooftop gardens, solar panels, and wind turbines adorning every available surface.

As you strolled along the streets, you’d encounter autonomous electric vehicles gliding silently, efficiently ferrying residents from place to place. The once congested roads had become pedestrian-friendly boulevards, shaded by canopies of greenery, where people chatted in multiple languages, reflecting the area’s continued cultural diversity.

Brickell had emerged as a global tech powerhouse, rivaling Silicon Valley. The streets were filled with young innovators, and futuristic co-working spaces and tech incubators lined the avenues. The scent of innovation permeated the air, and venture capitalists roamed the streets, looking for the next big idea.

Biscayne Bay had been transformed into a stunning aquatic playground. Expansive boardwalks stretched along the waterfront, offering breathtaking views of the bay and the distant Atlantic Ocean. Luxury yachts and futuristic water taxis crisscrossed the bay, while families picnicked in lush waterfront parks.

The city had made significant strides in climate resilience, with an intricate system of sea walls, flood barriers, and green infrastructure designed to protect against rising sea levels and hurricanes. A world-class research center in Brickell was at the forefront of climate science, working on innovative solutions to combat environmental challenges.

The local cuisine had evolved into a fusion of global flavors, and street food vendors offered delicacies from every corner of the world. Food markets were lively hubs of activity, where people gathered to savor culinary delights and enjoy live music from diverse cultures.

Brickell was a place where the past seamlessly intertwined with the future. Historic buildings had been lovingly preserved, their facades juxtaposed against the gleaming modern towers. It was a city where dreams were realized, cultures converged, and the spirit of innovation thrived—a true testament to the potential of a forward-thinking community.

Why would people who already live in condos need other condo towers? Makes no sense. The population is yearning for a lush landscapes, bike path and river walk with outdoor entertainment spaces.

Anonymous

Because we want a dense urban neighborhood that is more than just 10 blocks.

Anon

So advocate for both. Condos and riverwalk. The riverwalk is tan ideal spot to have lots of outdoor entertainment and culture.

Anonymous

It’s getting more dense around the Underline. Give us some space damnit!

What population? What methodical survey and or study are you referencing when you speak for an entire area of people. Don’t you mean, this is what YOU want and maybe a friend or two who agree with you

We do care about history, but we realize we can and should put the shark teeth and pottery shards in a museum where they belong.

Anonymous

A waterfront museum on the Miami River where we can walk to and where visitors can come to see.

This is Brickell. We want density – not museum or parks.

You can have both! Just look at NYC

Exactly! Every single building doesn’t have to be a condo in brickell. There can be a few cultural and park spaces and the City needs to purchase these lots and team up with a world class urban private developer. Invest more in and around Brickell.

They should add a theater. There are no theaters in Brickell! At least a black box theater for “off Broadway” style plays and musicals.

anon

Theres no room for Theatres, we want MORE CONDOS

Anonymous

No we don’t lol – we want more unique cultural attractions to add to the restaurant and shopping scene.

Anonymous

There’s like 20 more awesome condos coming to Brickell. I think we can make room for one museum, one theater, and one art gallery. How about a comedy club too.

An indie movie theater too.

Brickell has Flamingo Theater, but caters to die-hard cuban music lovers. We could use more English theaters in Brickell for variety of show tunes, off-Broadway, classic rock, and jazz fans.

Totally I thought they are adding a museum or something for the city.

Anon

They are. The Natural History Museum will be located downtown with the rest of the cities museums.

Anon

You know other cities have museums in every neighborhood right? They don’t need to be all in one area – that’s such poor urban planning and dumb.

Anon

Bring it up with the city. They have purposely been encouraging civic investment in Park West for years. Everything from the Adrienne Arsht center to the Frost Museum was planned ahead of time for this area in an effort to encourage development – and it worked.

Anonymous

Is it though? The museums close early and charge outrageous fees. There can be smaller museums and other cultural attractions in every neighborhood. Look how every other city spreads out the cultural attractions and the market is here for this sophistication in Brickell. It’s a no brainer to put something on the water, and have it be a new icon like the Sydney Opera House.

Anon

Hopefully something like that will go on the Herald site

Anonymous

People don’t go museum hopping. In fact they are less likely to go to the other museums if they are all clustered together. They like to visit different areas for different cultural attractions.

The Natural History Museum should be west the actual natural history exists!!!! Outrageous!

Anonymous

Most historical? We’ve destroyed more history in Miami than any pottery shard or stone circle could ever compensate.

Don’t worry – the entire thing will be complete in less than 5 years!

Hopefully the can add some sort of museum it could be one of the best attractions on the river walk

Anon

Every last inch of Brickell will be developed. Not one lot will be sacrificed for public amenities. And as far as I can tell, the residents there actually desire this.

Brickell Voice

No we do not. I live here, and very active in the community. Nobody ever says they want more condos. We get excited when empty lots are redeveloped, but we prefer some lots to be developed into cultural attractions, especially along the water when this is our last opportunity for such spaces.

Anyone who says otherwise is getting paid to say it.

We gotta vote

Hopefully more people actually start voting for our local government. From what I’ve gleaned in my short time here there’s blatant corruption/favoritism going on. The powers that be also seemed focused on maximizing profits and tourist. People want this city to be more than a place for tourists, partying, and money sheltering/laundering. The only way to make things better is to get the right people in office.

Do some research before you vote and don’t base your decision solely on what party they are in. That goes for both sides. There are a lot of people on here that want to see a change. Let’s make it happen.

Anonymous

💯 accurate – I would back any candidate who vows to finish the walk. Heck I may even need to campaign for you or run myself.

Anonymous

Nobody ever says they want more condos?? You are severely mistaken and not a voice for all of us Brickell residents. We do want more condos. Our neighborhood is just starting, there are tons more opportunities for good real estate. Move somewhere else if you don’t want a dense urban neighborhood because that’s what Brickell is becoming.

I didn’t say NO more condos. I said add some parks and cultural spaces. There’s about 20+ world class condos but haven’t seen a single plan for park and cultural space. Balance is 🔑 to success!

Flunk that! This is the moment where we take to the streets, bang on the doors of our commissioners, sue them, and vote. South Beach people tell me they are so upset with what happened there and they wish they prevented it either. Let’s not let it happen here, bring culture! history! Art! Entertainment! No more only fans low budget balcony bang videos.

A Sydney opera house, or the Shed – interactive art and performance space. Bring Taylor Swift. This is a sacred space!

Anonymous

Everyone talks about making this lot into a park. Does anyone ever visit the park where the circle was discovered years ago? That is a large piece of green space that the city has not really invested any funds to turn into a desirable park. Do we really need another one?

Anon

Yes and I always see people walking to read the signage and learn the history but it’s faded and a HUGE embarrassment for Miami and makes me think the city and county are out of touch and don’t care or do anything.

Anon

I wish there was a park going here but seems Brickell residents would prefer the density.

Anonymous

No the developer and foreign investors locked in prefer that because it’s cheaper. The people of Brickell and City of Miami want waterfront interaction and culture.

Anonymous

A small but vocal minority of Brickell residents want some type of museum (that will never be used) or another giant dog toilet akin to Miami Circle, but many others of us want a beautiful development on this lot.

Anon

No 95% of us want this – not a minority. No one and I mean no one is gunning for a walled of jagged box that they can’t enter, unless they work for the developer or a realtor selling and profiting.

Anonymous

Better get your facts straight. I haven’t met a single person who wants the city to pay the developer the millions of dollars that would be required to seize this lot. The people I talk to can’t wait to see this lot developed and the accompanying river walk piece completed.

Anon

One of the most joyful moments in Brickell are walking around the circle, seeing neighbors gather and dogs play, more of this!

Anon

I agree. Watching people watch their dog shit is a real rush.

anon

Tons of downvotes but the Brickellits in the replies all agree with this statement: they dont want a park they want a condo tower.

Real Brickell

Nobody said that except the developer puppets. Brickell wants parks and cultural attractions. How many condos and club-restaurants can one neighborhood absorb? We have other interests here too.

Anonymous

Then why do you circle jerk over every other generic condo building proposed?

Anonymous

Limited lots, with even fewer having potential for cultural monuments. Moved here to enjoy waterfront walks, but disappointed as advertised parks are becoming private and I know this area has potential to be greater, and fear it will turn into an uglier NYC with more density and less parks and attractions and more expensive – then why even be here?

Anon

You moved to Miami for public space? LOL

Anonymous

Which parks were advertised that are “becoming” private? I can’t think of a single one. Perhaps you moved here under false pretenses? Sounds like a personal problem.

Anonymous

Exactly! Not affiliated with any developer but I moved to Brickell to be in a dense urban neighborhood. People crying about that should move to Hialeah.

Anonymous

Who purposely wants to live on top of their neighbors, not for affordability or proximity to work purposes, but just for the sake of living on top of strangers? What an odd desire.
