Photos: 279-Unit, 32-Story Metro Edgewater Tower Continues Rising

An apartment tower geared towards young professionals called Metro Edgewater continues to rise, new photos show.

The new apartment tower will also help connect the Paraiso district to Biscayne Boulevard, with designers paying particular attention to the ground floor pedestrian experience.

Metro Edgewater will include:

  • 279 apartments
  • 4,230 square feet of retail
  • Approximately 300 parking spaces

Ortega Construction Company is the contractor. Burgos Lanza is the architect.

This is great for Edgewater. Developers need to continue moving west in this neighborhood. I’d love to see a comprehensive plan for the streetscape and a fleshed-out plan to turn the western part of Edgewater into a real neighborhood.

I always wondered how edgewater would look built out. Would all the height be on the bay? Or spread out?

The development along the bay is great but they need to build out a cohesive neighborhood to the west with facilities / shops / bars / retail for the residents and connect it via a comprehensive street plan

No more blank walls with assorted sheet metal or ugly murals like at Gran Paraiso, please.

They just extended one of the cranes, nice infill that isn’t on the water in edgewater.

Edgewater, Wynwood and Design District are unable to turn into a large homogeneous square, from NW 20th St and NW 36th St with the bay coast and NW 2nd Ave, due to the train line that cuts through the neighborhoods, between NE 2nd Ave and N Miami Ave.

Too much parking, too many cars. Edgewater is exhibit A for vertical suburb, unfortunately. Need to build *less* parking on these projects.

We need better transportation in order to reduce cars. They need to extend the Metromover

>”Better” transportation.
>Metromover.

Pfft.

It will be easier to justify once the Metromover is extended north, especially if it winds up being a loop rather than a spur just up N. Miami Avenue.

edgewater is a vertical suburb?. edgewater is very walkable and it has bars, restaurants, medical centers, banks and parks within walking distance.

We’re talking about the Edgewater, Miami, not Edgewater, Chicago.

Technically correct, but quantity and quality are marginal. Amenities for this neighborhood are pretty sparse. May change over time.
