Photos: 571-Foot Society Biscayne On Track For Opening In Spring 2022

Downtown Miami’s Society Biscayne apartment tower is getting closer to completion, new photos show.

Society Biscayne is among the tallest rental apartment projects ever built in Miami at 49 stories, or 571 feet.

The building will have 646 rental apartments. There will also be retail and church space on the lower levels

According to the project’s website, opening is now scheduled for Spring 2022. Previously, completion had been expected in 2021.

A temporary leasing office is getting set to open at the Dupont Building, according to Ryan Rea.

Groundbreaking took place in June 2019.

I’m looking forward to seeing this on Biscayne. However, anyone who has seen it up close can see that the glass design detail on the front is value-engineered to death and looks nothing like the renderings.

What glass? You mean the windows/doors?

No. If you look at all of the renderings the podium features a prominent ‘fractured’ glass detail that would have been striking if executed as presented. I know there will be variations from a render to the final design, but the result here is a complete departure.

Complete failure of execution for this entire project. PMG better not drop the ball when building Waldorf Astoria, or there will be many unhappy buyers.

Still not impressed by this architecture design. They really missed a great opportunity being smack on Biscayne Blvd and close to the Freedom Tower

Boring architecture and not enough glass. Just waiting for a renovation in 10 years it seems.

Agreed. It’s really underwhelming.

The rents here will be astronomical but it’s a nice apartment on Biscayne Boulevard with Waldorf Astoria next door

That Holiday Inn eyesore is the most regrettable thing on that entire block, hands down

Sad that’s still there while we lost the Everglades Hotel as late as 2005, which restored and used as a St. Regis or even Westin would have been more amazing than the Waldorf Astoria ever could.

I’m a little shocked to see a lot of negative reviews here in the comments, but I looked over the photos and ended up liking the building. The same is not a simple crate. It starts with a block of garages, then comes a beautiful ceiling height with columns, then a few floors making a glass wall and, only then, do the floors begin with the apartment terraces (which, by the way, will have a breathtaking view) , with a final finish by a large and wide white band. Anyway, great location, breathtaking view and architecture that, if it’s not a wonder like One Thusend Museum, Aston Martin and Okan, is even better than a mere crate.

Looks much better than the renderings, or was that intentional?

Can MDC at the very least paint that red post-modern atrocity behind it?

Anonymous

If that’s an atrocity, their Brutalist main campus building is a war crime.
