Photos: First Glass Installed At 545Wyn Office Building In Wynwood, Where Architect Gensler Will Relocate

In Wynwood, the 545Wyn office building has topped off.

The project will include:

  • 298,000 square feet of office
  • 26,000 square feet of retail
  • 442 space parking garage

Developer Sterling Bay announced last month that architect Gensler had signed a ten year lease to occupy 13,456 square feet of the office space.

Gensler is based in San Francisco, but has an office at 801 Brickell which it is relocating from. Gensler is the architect of 545Wyn, so it will be moving into a building it designed.

“Ban cars from Wynwood”

Sooo businesses in Wynwood should kill all chances of attracting more customers?

No this guy wants you to walk 8 blocks east west in the sun the whole time and everyday from the forced location tri rail/bright line on 29th

You mean explore the neighborhood and generate more economic activity? If so, sign me up!

Anonymous

So is there something preventing you from exploring the neighborhood on foot right now?

Yeah.. it doesn’t matter to him because he ain’t walking.

Miami isn’t the only city in the Planet with hot summers

This is a super low parking ratio for office. Considering there are no walkable metro stops, you have to have some parking to be marketable and actually get built.

at least the parking section has a “Wow” factor compared to the Brickell new garage.

Parking shouldn’t have a wow factor. If needed it should be invisible.

I’d say from downtown all together

I know it’s obvious, and I also know it will never get done, but Wynwood/Midtown/Design District/Edgewater desperately need transit – an expansion of metromover or metrorail or some other, equivalent, grade separated system. This area will be in constant gridlock a few years from now otherwise.

Brings a smile to FDOT

I’m sure the FDOT is dreaming of double decking Biscayne blvd with a toll…

By that time, maybe they’ll stop delaying Coastal Link. /optimism

Look, you’re supposed to be satisfied with the free trolleys they gave you… what more do you want?

The entire firm needs to move out of San Franfeako and move to beautiful Florida/Miami. I noticed that the State dropped the sales tax on commercial leases. Good move. Go Florida and go Miami go. Keep bring in companies and people from other states.

I’ve seen some ugly parking garages, and even uglier attempts at concealing them, whether it be loud murals or pieces of sheet metal, but this one takes the cake. It looks like an unfinished, abandoned construction project when the graffiti “artists” vandalize and homeless squat.

Doesn’t most of Wynwood look like someplace that the “graffiti artists vandalized and the homeless squat” to you?

This building is a boring glass box with a trashy parking garage perforation made of cheap corrugated steel and no amount of street art is going to make it that much better.

They are betting on the proposed interchange from I-95. Hopefully activists kill it.

In fact that low and humble “Unicorn Factory” bldg has more going for it than the glass box behind it.

Anonymous

So does that mean you once considered it but now you WON’T be renting office space there?

IT LOOKS AMAZING!! LOVE SEEING THIS FROM 95

Is Metromover being considered for the expansion into this area?

Anonymous

Yes, kind of. Along N Miami Ave up to 40 street.

Not usual to have an office building topped off with less than 5% of it leased…

Anonymous

The article doesn’t say how much total has been leased, only how much by Gensler.

Weird mix….. good luck !!

I pity the poor fools who are standing, walking, or sitting anywhere near the sunlight bouncing off those windows.
