First Crane Installed At Melo Group’s 60-Story Downtown 1st

Developer Melo Group is moving quickly to complete a foundation for Downtown 1st, and the first crane is now being installed, new photos show.

Downtown 1st is set to become Melo Group’s tallest tower ever.

Photos taken by shell contractor L&R Structural Corp. shows the new crane installation this morning. Piling work is quickly progressing at the site.

The 60-story, 557-foot tower broke in March.

A total of 560 apartments will be included in the new tower.

Go go go! This is a great project. Will bring good density. Even though it doesn’t look great. With all the ramps from 95 right next to it I don’t think this parcel was ever going to have a signature tower

Ramps close by means you can get on an off the freeway pretty quickly. That means that anything built near them should be in a pretty good position.

While that is true and will be a bonus for some, the ramps make the area much less walkable and the overall area visibly unappealing. Which is why this will parcel is much better suited for a somewhat affordable apartment complex rather than a signature hotel, office, or condo tower. Take a walk around this block and I think you’ll see what I mean.

If all I’m doing is walking around whatever is built there, then my life is pretty dull because there’s so many other things to do and see in this city and county.

I-95 ramps or not, you still have Metromover flyovers and the service depot over the streets too.

What ever happened to the proposal to take them down for a grand boulevard? I think Yo-Yo Boy tried spearheading it a few years ago, but I haven’t heard anything else.

Anonymous

No! No stone circles or pointed sticks , only the same thing They found recently on the project at the old Capitol Grill Restaurant construction site!!🥸

Broken glass, a cardboard with some chicken nuggets from 1997, dimes and one penny, half empty tube of Colgate paste, condoms, a plastic magenta color broom in perfect condition, and the mummified thumb of a Marielito from 1980!👍🏻
Melo’s will display them in the Lobby once the project is finished
🧐
And the person who bought the banana on the wall for 125,000$ in the last Art Basel will offer a fortune for it!

This will be done before the hurricane it’s over 😂. I hope MELO can get real leasing agents and not the low class and low costumer service people the usually have working for their buildings.

Wtf is he saying?

Ugly Melo Buildings

Every Melo building is so ugly. That what happens when Melo hires inhouse architects instead of paying for talent. And obviously, Melo’s desire to max out every square inch on every site contributes to the ugly buildings.

Hialeah is a different city so let them worry about themselves.

the bay project should be canceled, it did not adhere to Miami 21 zoning

Laws Broken

Melo and other developers almost always violate City of Miami Zoning Laws. Residents get screwed.

That’s the problem. People can be whining residents who gets their way one day, and move to an entirely different state another.
