Photos: Gables Station Rising Next To Metrorail, Underline

Next to the Metrorail in Coral Gables, a massive mixed-use project is rising.

Gables Station will include:

  • 434 apartments
  • 66 extended-stay hotel rooms
  • 125,000 square feet of retail, including a grocer and Life Time Fitness
  • 1,000 parking spaces
  • The Living Room, an open air square lined with shops, restaurants, and seating areas
  • A public park

Gensler and Jorge Hernandez are the architects.

State and county requirements imposed by lobbying from big 3 auto companies in the 50s have to be changed or completely removed.

Yeah, lets elect a “genius” millennial who thinks self-driving cars will make transit obsolete, and high speed rail will make traveling across the ocean via airplanes obsolete.

Don’t get me wrong, I like most of the buildings being built in the Gables, design wise, but for anyone to think that the residents of thee units will use public transit, that’s foolish and ignorant.

Would’t it be good to have a Metrorail station build at this site? 37Ave. I know 42nd station is close by but still far from this place and Mary Park; maybe the developer should have been asked to paid for the new station… 🙂

You’re joking right? It’s literally .5 miles to LeJeune, about an 11 minute walk. Too far?

There is the Douglas Road Metrorail Station at SW 37 Ave & Useless 1. Only few blocks .04 miles away.
