Photos: Wavy Arquitectonica Design Feature Installed At Miami Beach Convention Center

Construction continues at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Arquitectonica is designing the exterior, in partnership with Fentress Architects.

The design replaces OMA’s plan for the convention center, which was scrapped by Miami Beach commissioners.

Why does Arquitectonica always have to design something to resemble waves on the water?

I’ll be glad when Arquitectonica finally waves goodbye to the city of Miami.

I think it will be nice once it’s done but I can’t help but imagine what more it could have been if they wouldn’t have went the cheap route. All the other bids was amazing at least on paper but this one was very boring. Just have to wait to see the final product.

The point is to make it larger and add public space and a hotel to make it more competitive with the other big boys in Vegas and Orlando, which steal shows and the huge economic impact they bring to tourism and corporate investment.

True… no other city can compare to Miami from October to March. Convention center is already booked when it re-opens.

It looks better without it, the rectangular glass is fine. The white metal looks like the cheesy fence around DASH and that complex next to the old MB Publix.
