Pi Art Tech and Trade Center Developer Says His Plan Is Best

Developer Jorge Brugo is pushing his proposal to build the Pi Art Tech and Trade Center ahead of a presentation to Miami Dade College next week.

Representatives told TNM that the developer believes his plan to build an Art Museum in collaboration with Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation will “create a trifecta of arts and culture facilities within walking distance of each other in Downtown, alongside Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) and Adrienne Arsht Center.”

Soaring 1,100 feet high, the 2.2 million square foot mixed-used project will include:

  • Home of MDC Business School
  • Art Museum, in collaboration with Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation
  • 820,000 square feet of office
  • 210,000 square feet of luxury condos
  • 68,000 square-feet of retail
  • State of the Art Gym & Pool

Pi Art Tech is one of four bidders that will formally present their proposals to Miami Dade College on March 18th.

Shocker that the developer thinks his plan is the best. However, I do really like it and hope that it wins the bid.

I really like the Oppenheim design with the public Plaza and the way that interacts with the street, the glass atrium at the top, and the way that it frames the Freedom Tower. It much more appropriate for a College campus. I just wish it were taller.

The Oppenheim design just looks out of place to me with the freedom tower. It is also not unique at all. There is already a very close similar design of the Oppenheim design in China. The Pi art tech tower fits more to me with the freedom tower and the sphere of influence crown meaning compliments the freedom tower directly. The Pi art tech tower would be iconic.

This ugly rocket ship dwarfs the Freedom tower and pays no respect to it.

Thank you for your useless opinion Mr. competing bidder who most likely won’t win the bid.

I agree, it is the best 🙂

The tower is great. But the podium is straight out of the 80s. The city will experience the tower at the street level. The tower is great for the Miami skyline, but the design of the podium needs to be reconsidered.

The tower is definitely iconic, but the Museum for Nader’s project looks so good….

Once again, his problem is the podium is not street friendly. It appears and acts like an obtrusive wallwall directly on Biscayne Blvd.

But if they do build the wall maybe we can get the Mexicans to pay for it.

He absolutely correct.

I feel it’s a win win for Miami no matter who wins as all four proposals are great buildings. Nadar… Beautiful building mainly in the day to look at but to me not iconic but beautiful. Related… Odd looking building my least favorite but still looks better than most buildings in Miami. Oppenheim…. Another awesome building and different only one other building in the world like it, that’s my second choice. Pi Art Tech… Not the most beautiful in the day but this building comes out to play at night. We all know Miami comes out to play after dark an this building will light up the sky. It’s super tall different from any building in Miami at least and I would definitely say it’s iconic. This is my choice.

I dont think the height on the buttom pic is accurate. At 1100ft it would be much taller than the buildings to the right of it.

Anonymous

Yeah, maybe 730ft at the most in that pic. At 1100ft it would look twice the height of 10 museum park.

Beautiful tower, but we need more detail depiction of the base.

The Pi art tech is my favorite out of the 4. The tower will be Iconic. I love that crown – sphere of influence and the night time lights as well. I hope Pi art can win the bid. ?

Can everybody please look at page 28 of the document? It’s the ONLY picture that actually shows what they’ve proposed the museum facade would look like. And personally, I think it looks MUCH better than drab exterior implied by the pictures TNM has chosen to show.

I would also suggest looking at pages 36 and 46. It shows that along the entirety of Biscayne Blvd, the museum will be comprised of glass-windowed storefronts. Again, this isn’t shown in any of the pictures TNM has chosen to show.

Pi Art Tech should’ve displayed more prominantly what they actually envision it looking like.

I saw it. The podium is still very dated and lackluster. Having storefront curtain walls isn’t the only way to interact with the street. The podium design in unresolved, is it a bad version of FLW’s Guggenheim in NYC.

The Guggenheim is a horribly ugly building. This building is TBD. It’s definitely NOT the “wall” blocking off Biscayne like some are saying.

Beautiful design that would be iconic in Miami and has the MDC name attached to it. My daughter goes to MDC for Graphics design and has classes at Wolfson and loves this tower as well. We are hoping it gets the bid.

The pedestal is perfect IMO. Will stand the test of time. Miami needs such an iconic building.

Beautiful architecture and top crown. I love this one and hope it wins the bid. Although I doubt it will top off at 1100 ft. Maybe at 1000 ft the most ? Still, I hope it gets done. I like the details in the proposal as well. Especially including the MDC school of business.

It is a thing of beauty. Love the design. Hope this one wins the bid.

I love this structure. I can’t get enough of it. This would be on par with structures in major Asian cities. With an MDC business school, theater, museum, an observation tower with a crown. This is definitely going to stand out beautifully in our skyline.

So many fake posts praising this hideous design…

The Pi art tech proposal and design has a lot to offer. This tower further beautifies the Miami skyline and would simply put MDC more on the map. It is gorgeous

This looks like a great project that would be a decent change of Miami, although that might be a great idea for increasing the population of Miami, the building looks more like a discount Torre Costanera.

Hideous amateurish design that is totally out of scale and has a horrible podium. This would make Miami a joke in the architecture world. Also lots of lies from this proposer – no deal for the trade center and no deal to move MDC business school, just lots of lies from this proposer…

You are a bitter developer who has no vision or appreciation for any work other than yours. It is most likely that your own work has never been appreciated and even criticized so you have to bring down others. Pathetic and unprofessional. The Pi art tech is an obvious beautiful work of art. It has won a majority of the poll votes in favor of it in the Curbed Miami poll votes. You want to beat it’s design and proposal ? Then come up with something more iconic and better, if not then STFU from trolling and try another profession other than developing where you might just excel.

Well said an this can’t be any worse than 85% of architecture in Miami right.
