Planned Brickell Office Tower Submitted To FAA At 764 Feet

Plans have been filed with the Federal Aviation Administration for a commercial tower on Brickell Avenue.

The filing was made on June 27.

Multiple heights were submitted for the new tower, which is named 848 Brickell.

The tallest proposed height filed is 764 feet above ground, or 775 feet above sea level.

Plans for the new 51-story tower were originally submitted to Miami-Dade County for review in October 2023, by Miami developer Key International.

In January 2024, Chicago developer Sterling Bay announced it was partnering on the project.

In April, the developers completed a utilities deal to connect to the new tower to the county’s water and sewer system.

According to the utilities agreement, the new tower will include:

  • 750,901 square feet of office
  • 6,553 square feet of retail

Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill is designing the tower.

I wonder if they’ll be able to top off this tower before they can finish toying around with the plaza Nextdoor?

Keep the plaza, but just renovate it like WPB did with City Place.

Mary Brickell needs to revitalize the plaza with a Spanish/mediterranean revamp while making it elegant and modern in a sea of stucco buildings

Hopefully it gets approved and built. We need names like this architectural firm in our repertoire. Enough of Arquitectonica

SOM is the architect of Southeast Financial Center.

They have been here for at least 41 years.

Yet, Southeast Financial Center still looks great. This box will age like milk. Like Arquitectonica, SOM has lost its creativity.

building looks nice and is in a great location between two metromover shops. Hopefully they have some marquee tenants already lined up
