Raquel Regalado: Move Court Facilities Out Of Downtown Miami To ‘The Center Of The County’

Raquel Regalado, daughter of Miami Mayor Tomás Regalado, thinks that Dade County should consider building new courthouse facilities farther west in the county and away from downtown Miami.

According to the Miami Herald, Regalado wants the county to partner up with municipalities to build the new facilities. Although she didn’t specify an exact location, she said that the new facilities should be ‘in the center of the county’.

Users of the current courthouse in downtown Miami say that deteriorating conditions in the crumbling facility impedes the court’s ability to function properly.

Regalado has been trying to take credit for a recent no vote by county voters on a half-baked plan to issue bonds for a new courthouse. She recently said that she is considering a run for County Mayor.

They should find a way to build a new courthouse in the civic center area!

Discussion

Raquel Regalado has been demanding that a proper discussion take place. I do not believe she is recommending any specific site. People know it can take 2 hours to reach downtown from SW Kendall or Florida City. It can take 90 minutes from Doral and the Airport West area. Parking downtown can cost $30 for 2 hours. There is a problem. Thankfully the $393 Mil Bond issue failed 2 to 1. There was no site disclosed. Planning needs to take place.

Exageration

Exaggerate Much.

It takes 20 minutes to Downtown from Doral and West Miami.

It costs $20 to park in the area and if you park on Biscayne it cost $5.

It takes 45 minnutes from SW Kendall or Florida City and if we are putting off the future of Miami to cater to Florida City then I have no faith in Miami politics.

Doral, SW Kendall and all those suburbanites can learn to take public transportation. They want suburbia, they can have it.

Raquel Regalado educated the voters about the proposed $393 Mil bond scam. Voters believed Regalado and they voted 64% Against the scam. Did any other elected officials come out in public against the scam? Did any other elected officials speak “truth to power”?

Moving the courthouse would cause a domino effect in that part of downtown. All of that urban renewal would go to waste.

No, this is very stupid blanket statement. The actual center of the county put its out west in no mans land. If she means the center of it all thats about prespective, why should downtown lose this.

Right. So the indigent who find themselves in court/needing to be in the court the most whether it is against a corrupt landlord or them getting their home foreclosed on would have mass transit option to get there? Oh yea wait…

And all the law offices downtown would love this!

Downtown Miami is the center of the county, and by far the best public transit area of the county. It should stay there or very close by.

She’ll never get MY vote

Well, I don’t really see the point in that absurd statement. Courts should be accessible to the people; meaning mass transit. The very center of the county is downtown Miami. When will these insipid, mindless people realize that getting out of the car and building towards mass transit is the greenest, best way to live. Beyond me!!!! Has this girl ever been to Europe? Asia? Has she ever been outside of this country. Probably not!!!!

She’ll fit in perfectly with the rest of the lazy morons running this town.

Mr. Regalado, if this is how your daughter thinks, you just lost my vote!!!

Moving the courthouse out of downtown is the most ridiculous idea. In any great city the courthouse is downtown. Downtown is easy to get to, do to the mass transportation in the area. Courts need to be near offices, not in the middle of nowhere “near the people”. She clearly doesn’t have a clue. This is a losing battle for her.

THE NEW COURTHOUSE SHOULD BE IN DOWNTOWN MIAMI. ANYONE WHO THINKS OTHERWISE REVEALS THEIR LEVEL OF INTELEGENCE (OR LACK THEREOF). FURTHER, ANY OFFICE OF ALL FEDERAL, STATE, AND COUNTY AGENCIES (OF COURSE THE CITY ALSO)SHOULD BE WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF THE CURRENT COURTHOUSE (NOT MORE THAN FOUR BLOCKS). DOWNDOWN MIAMI IS THE MOST ACCESSIBLE PLACE IN THE COUNTY FOR THE MOST PEOPLE. HAVING COUNTY, STATE AND FEDERAL AGENCIES LOCATED ELSEWHERE MAKES THEIR ACCESS MORE DIFFICULT. YOU WANT TO GO TO THE SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION? USE A CAR. WANT TO OBTAIN A BUILDING PERMIT? USE A CAR. WANT TO GO TO THE COUNTY POLICE STATION? USE A CAR. WANT TO GO TO CITY HALL? USE A CAR. GET THE PICTURE? THERE IS NO ROOM FOR MORE CARS. WE NEED ALL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES IN DOWNTOWN MIAMI AND A NEW TRAIN SYSTEM TO GET THE PEOPLE THERE.

not sure how you spell “thereof” correctly and not “intelligence” – still working this one out..

“Regalado has been trying to take credit for a recent no vote by county voters on a half-baked plan to issue bonds for a new courthouse. She recently said that she is considering a run for County Mayor.”

She is in such HIGH demand. You see, she’s here to protect the tax payers. Now before anyone says anything, it’s not her fault that she wasn’t there for the tax payers concerning the Marlins Stadium, she can’t be everywhere, ya know. She was probably somewhere at the time pondering whether to run for county mayor or continue being a staunch vanguard for the tax payers of MiamiDade.

She needs your support and your trust people!

Wow just wow.. moving the courthouse from downtown would be one of the most disastrous moves in the history of Miami. Anybody that would be for this shows their narrow mindedness and lack of understanding of city planning.

The courthouses need to remain Downtown. It’s the center of transit system, and our entire county (and region arguably) is centered around Downtown Miami. Downtown is where the law offices are, the many courthouses, offices, businesses, thousands of residents, etc.

Raquel is obviously a rich girl. I go and have to use metrorail to get to the courthouse.

is this woman crazy the best place for the court house is down town and where is her father who as the mayor of Miami should be screaming foul. this would hurt our down town and mostly the central business district. why haven’t the mayor and commissioners not pushed back on this proposal? you are elected official and should be representing the interest of Miami and if you can’t do that then get out of office!!!!!!!!

I can’t stand school board officials that care more about peripheral politics than the educational system. The school board needs members that focus completely on education instead of using the seat for political expedience.
