Related Companies To Partner On Citadel HQ

Citadel has announced that it will partner with Related Companies on a tower it is building in Brickell, according to Bloomberg.

According to plans filed last year, the 55-story tower would reach a supertall height of 1,046 feet above ground, or 1,049 feet above sea level.

It would include mostly office, along with hotel and retail, and a public baywalk. Foster + Partners is the architect.

Related had previously been in a partnership with Swire Properties to develop a near-supertall office tower nearby called One Brickell City Centre, but that property has now been listed for sale.

San Francisco has tech/software, Chicago and NYC have finance, but what does Miami have? there lies the problem.

We need top schools that will attract top employers

We can’t just keep relying on tourism and Latin American investments.

Miami has large healthcare industry – we should lean into that.

The University of Miami should consider building a large campus in downtown or nearby in Riverside, giving students the opportunity to pursue their education in the heart of the city, surrounded by valuable networking opportunities. The current Coral Gables campus could then serve as a satellite hub focused on graduate programs.

West palm beach is bringing over a satellite school of Vanderbilt. We would need something like that in Miami

As usual the model is always to try to steal other people’s washed-up companies…get them to move to MIA. Can’t create anything meaningful or innovative from ground up here so now we are happy to bring in some satellite school from some other state’s creation. Wow.

Miami should lean into fashion and manufacturing chips and transportation gear, like those parts we have imported for metro mover Let’s build and design things other than condos here, since it’s too expensive to do this in other big cities and industries are being shoved out of those cities. We are too reliant on service industries and need more products.

STOP TYRING TO MAKE MIAMI LIKE SAN FRAN AND NYC AND CHICAGO. Its ok for this city to not be like your old city. Stop making the same dry argument.

What?

International Banking, Int’l Finance, Int’l Law, Import/Export, etc etc.

Your post seems to be looking for the text box to type something without reading the article.
“Citadel has announced ….the 55-story tower would reach a supertall height of 1,046 feet above ground”

Citadel is a top employer.
Citadel is from Chicago (Not Latin America).
Citadel is a finance company (not a tourist company).

There are top schools in Miami. Clearly, some of the citizens of Miami do not have the reading comprehension skills to have attended them, but they exist.

Miami has a Babson College Campus, ranked by WSJ/Financial Times/ US News World Report as the #1 or #2 School in the USA for Entrepreneurship…. it’s a big deal.
Kellogg School of Business also has a downtown campus.
FiUs programs are top notch.
Miami Dade College has programs that can train High School grads into tech/medical/finance jobs with 2 years for less than $15kin total tuition. Smart 17 yr old kids can finish before 20 making $70k to start and zero student loan debt.

These schools are part of the reason why smart money has continued to locate here in the last 10 years.
Miami is great and getting better.

I’d like to see University of Florida, New York University or Columbia open a satellite campus in downtown Miami focused on civic leadership, hospitality, ecology, engineering, sustainable farming, tech manufacturing, psychology, or urban planning for the future.

Related jumped ship over to Kenny G and left Swire to figure out how to proceed, with the BCC land being listed. It’ll be interesting to see the price that land fetches, but a clear sign that office is dead.

Hmmm, seems odd timing that One BBC Office is now dead and that Citadel is weakening its ownership with a Related Properties Steve Ross partnership.
Times change. This all may be the first signal that things are afoot on a soft-RE-economy. Houses are flat, etc. Makes sense. The wave needs to end at some point.

Between the Santander, Key International, and Citadel buildings, there was simply too office in the pipeline. One BCC was also at a disadvantage because each of the other projects already have an anchor tenant.

Balthazar Bratt

Catch up.
Citadel replaced Sterling Bay (Chicago) with Related. There probably isn’t any weakening of ownership. Citadel probably struck a better deal with Related than they had with Sterling Bay.

It is not odd at all. Partners change all the time and for many different reasons.

Very underwhelming and unoriginal design. Agree that the hat is very predictable and hideous.
Please re-think the design if Related is coming onboard, start the process over.

Miami is developing far too tall along the bay, probably because waterfront locations are highly desirable and attract luxury developments. However, this trend sadly prioritizes quick profit over creating cohesive, livable neighborhoods that provide long term gains.

I’d prefer to see this super tall rise at the BCC location or along the Underline, rather than along the bay, for functionality and longevity, but hopefully we see both rise, because this is beautiful too!

One BCC is dead. The site is up for sale and Related is joining Citadel for this development.
No more ONE BCC. Will most likely become another CONDO Residential site.
