Related Group Planning To Start 500-Unit Mixed-Use Project At 444 Brickell

Related Group may be preparing to move forward with a project at 444 Brickell, six years after the developer purchased the property.

In an interview this week with SFBW Magazine, Related founder Jorge Perez said the first building at 444 Brickell would have 500 units and a combination of uses.

Related wants to help develop a densely populated urban core that has no need for cars in the future, Perez said. The future of cities is human-scale buildings near transit that are better for the environment, he added.

The 444 Brickell property is at a key location next to the Brickell Avenue Bridge, and the development will add a continuous riverwalk connecting under the bridge from the Icon Brickell complex towards Brickell City Centre.

In 2014, Related said they was considering building a Cesar Pelli-designed project at 444 Brickell, after purchasing the property a year in late 2013.

The developer submitted plans in 2014 for a three-tower complex called One Brickell with 82, 77 and 57 stories, designed by Arquitectonica. Construction was planned to begin in 2015, with 1,400 residential units, 249 hotel units, parking, and office and retail.

Advertisements for the One Brickell proposal was placed at the site, but later removed after Related put the project on hold.

Related’s Jon Paul Perez said in an interview this month that the developer would like to develop a Cesar Pelli or Rem Koolhaas project on the waterfront in Brickell.

Just build minimal parking. I believe Mr. Perez said he wanted to.

“Related wants to help develop an urban core that has no need for cars in the future, Perez said.” *** It’s a beautiful day for the Miami chapter of “Ban Cars and Garage Podiums” of America.

The Podiums are a blight on our streetscape.

It’s too late. We have enough parking in this city to sustain a city in Europe of 12 million

I’ll believe it after he actually hires an architectural firm like Pelli.

Gee, after all these years they still haven’t redesigned these buildings.

Why would they? It’s a beautiful design.

Yeah, they would be for people who don’t have an idea of what a “beautiful design” is, like you.

Are you talking about the 79 story towers with hotel at One Brickell?

Do you just read the headline and then go straight to comment? Lazy

Lol everyone was bashing this design in the post on a potential Koolhaas or Pelli project but now that it’s a step closer to reality it’s stunning.

What groundwork has One river Point done? They moved some dirt around and put stucco on the retaining wall. One river point wont be built anytime soon, I hope I’m wrong.
