Related Group Proposes 15-Story Icon Residences In North Miami

Related Group has submitted plans for the 15-story Icon Residences in North Miami, according to Biscayne Times.

Icon Residences North Miami is proposed to have just 54 condo units.

Prices would average $4.6 million.

The White House Inn at the entrance to the Broad Causeway would be demolished to make way for the new tower, if the city approves.

Related is currently lobbying the city for a height increase to allow the tower. The total height to the top of the mechanical area is 184 feet.

A supermajority of four out of five councilmembers will be needed to approve the project, and some neighbors are opposed while others are in favor.

Related is also in the process of buying out the four-story Mariner’s Bay condo building nearby, and has already secured most units there, the newspaper reported.

Why are there so many columns in the balconies? Couldn’t thicken the slab and give unobstructed views for $5M?

They don’t engineer the structure until much later in the development game.

At least the balconies cover most the building, and aren’t irregularly scattered or checkerboarded in a cheap and nasty manner Related/Arquitectonica likes.

If you have been by this property, the old Whitehouse inn, it will be interesting to see how you will get the resident traffic in and out without. Keystone point will have a lot of new visitors and traffic. I believe many have tried to develop this prime lot with little to no success.

Increase the tax rolls and beautify the area. That street is prime for redevelopment and being a nice gateway to the beaches.

this is a monstrosity being pushed on the SINGLE-FAMILY neighborhood, for it to happen they need a massive zoning change.

Universally hated(except for the developer trolls) by anybody that will have to live in the shadow of a giant building plopped down in a normal neighborhood.

Too many night crawlers in that area for my taste, doesn’t seem like the right market for this

Lol, they’re using the icon name now in crappy north Miami as if it were on par with south beach and Brickell icons

Icon Brickell is crappy. Frankly if this tower were multiplied and stretched to Icon Brickell heights, it would look better than the monstrosity where you can see into other people’s bathrooms from your window.

“some neighbors are opposed” to this project?

Babies always throw a fit to get their way.

Petty “Anonymous” city politics… would you want a 15-story tower next to your multi-million dollar home? Folks that are opposed have the right to be… Perhaps a project with multi-story townhomes would be a better proposal that fits in better with its neighbors and community…

By multi-million dollar home, you mean concrete box McMansions that don’t fit neighbors and the community? I mean, there are plenty of crappy old 1950s and 60s homes ripe for rebuilding here, but it’s like architects forgot people like houses that don’t look like car batteries.

mc mansion Is an understatement! As each home is right on top of one another, zero privacy, reckless drivers. Car theft and break ins daily, No police presence, drugs dealers rentingTo be on water, not to mention illegal boat charters and exotic rentals, gun shots at night. North Miami and Keystone should be ashamed.

But this area has so many “Mansions” in it. I guess rich people are just dying to live there.
