Related Group To Begin Construction On The Gallery At West Brickell In Q3 2021; Brickell World School Planned Next Door

The Related Group is moving forward with a plan to build a project called The Gallery At West Brickell.

The Gallery At West Brickell will include a 29-story residential tower, an 11-story parking garage, and the property will also have a 7-story school known as Brickell World School.

The combined project will include:

  • 493 apartments (with income restrictions)
  • Brickell World School (a middle school) with 88,000 square feet, enough for 610 students
  • 3,000 square feet of retail
  • 529 parking spaces

Related received approval last week for zoning changes needed to move forward with the project, and told the SFBJ that they plan to break ground in the third quarter of 2021. Related wants to get financing from tax exempt bonds and tax credits.

The school is being built separately by Miami-Dade County Public Schools, with opening scheduled for the 2022-23 school year.

CM Design & Development is the architect for the apartment tower and parking garage. Zyscovich is the architect for the school.

Charter schools can go to hell

Of course! Better to have unionized teachers with no accountability.

No accountability…you must be referring to charter schools. True public schools have more accountability than any charter school, especially when it comes to their finances.

The world is coming to Miami and we need the infrastructure and institutions to support all of the future growth, which is a high quality problem.

We need a High School and a high profile UM campus in Brickell or downtown.

Affordable housing is coming to brickle. That’s going to start making it an area for anyone as an economically diverse community. And now there is finally going to be a middle school there which is awesome. That area needs another school by Miami Dade County Public schools and I am very happy about that.

Most Related project are barely “ok” projects. High end promises, low quality final products.

Rinse and repeat its all they do. Not to mention most of their building have major structural issues because they cut corners in the construction process. They are also notorious for selling you all these features and then end up removing most and watering down the plans.

In the renderings, it feels cheap….. almost brutalist…

Now the only thing holding Brickell back is the Château projects at Jose Marti park

Love the idea of building a new school, but shame on the design of both components the apt tower and the school

Noted.

Now, do you have your own design drawings you can sell them?

Frankly, it ends up looking better than a lot of Related’s high-end Arquitectonica cereal boxes along Biscayne Bay in Edgewater, or the monstrosities proposed right at the Miami River.

I am quite impressed by this project. I feel it is underrated compared to other projects. Another great Related Group project incoming.

For when you decide to move outta town….

This is Brickell. “West Brickell” is west of the highway.

Anonymous

It is not. Those of us that live in Brickell know that anything west of I95 is not Brickell. It’s the area west of SW 1 ave to the highway.

Low Budget Building if you ask me. Kids will have an awesome view of the highway.

They should be paying attention to their teachers and not looking out the windows anyway.
