Residential Building With 160 Units Proposed In Edgewater

Plans have been submitted to Miami’s Urban Development Review Board for a residential project called Edgewood 22.

Edgewood 22 is proposed to rise 20 stories, or 241 feet, and include:

  • 160 residential units
  • 10,247 square feet of ground floor retail
  • 219 parking spaces on four garage levels

A Midas store was built on the property in 2019, county records show.

Zyscovich is the architect for the new tower.

Edgewood 22 LLC of Brooklyn, New York is the developer. A logo for Heritage Equity Partners is shown on the plan set.

The UDRB hearing is scheduled for September 20.

A Brightline commuter/Coastal Link stop is coming faster than the first flyover looking right into your bedroom will be built.

If Miami is ever going to compete as a major city we need to get over this fear of elevated rail. New York has the luxury of an underground subway system, and we don’t. A commuter rail is great for long distances but an automated people mover that is quick and has many stops all over the urban core is unmatched. Embrace the flyover. It’s the only way to keep us growing without being consumed in traffic like Los Angeles. Plus it looks iconic.

A suburbs long distance train with more stops is not an inner core mode of transportation. NOT a solution.

Unless you have a metro stop you’re in a Suburb of Miami not the CITY of Miami.

Get a clue. This area couldn’t be more central Miami. Nothing to do with the suburbs, but I guess someone who rarely leaves Brickell wouldn’t know anything about Miami’s boundaries.

This will be a great addition to the N.E. 2nd Ave. corridor. I like the “low” height of 20 stories.

Zones, plural. There’s more water than land.

Why is the south side of the podium a solid block wall? Looks like crap.

Hello

Because the next building will occupy that side

Decent architecture for Zyscovich, and perfect height and massing for the area.

re: those trees and umbrellas on the roof, is there another swimming pool up there in addition to the one down below, or is that just a sundeck?

If it’s just a sundeck I bet it doesn’t happen. The marketing value of a rooftop sundeck as an amenity doesn’t warrant the extra insurance expense unless it has a pool.

Yes, there will be a pool on the roof.

Another uninspiring box with blank walls facing the public.

I’ll actually disagree here. The materials, massing, symmetry, and little cap at the top contribute to the building’s character. The blank wall will likely be covered whenever the neighboring property is redeveloped.

Terrible spot for density. Residents will be deserted here and complain they don’t have a metro. Add density to our metro areas and river walk.

What are you talking about? This is a 15 min walk from the School Board metromover station, 4 min bike ride.

Real trains, like heavy rail and trams. Not dinky Metromover.

Metro mover is the best public transportation mode in Miami. Nobody wants to ride a real train, it’s so suburban and inefficient and doesn’t go anywhere to make an impact

Anon

Don’t forget Metromover is FREE. That’s what really matter to you. Having a free ride over to the craft beer places.

They will go down to one of the 219 parking spaces and get their car and drive to where they want to go.
