Resorts World Miami Files For Tree Removal Permit

Resorts World Miami has obtained a permit to remove trees from the former Herald property.

City records show that 26 trees will be removed from the property at 1 Herald Plaza.

The permit was filed June 30, and picked up July 14.

the only thing I can think of is that they might be piggy-backing off the first permit for the demo of the herald building and therefore probably started the process at that point and this was just for whatever was left that they didn’t get to the first time.

Well why don’t you buy the site from Genting and build what you desire to see on it?

what i think is they will remove those royal palms from the old parking lots as the trees branches continually fall and if anyone just happens to be near….it could be a problem for them if someones hurt

i dont believe at all it will be genting who turns a shovel….just last week a genting spokesman told a newspaper he doesnt see any promise in moving forward…they will sell the property to various parties is my guess with just the bayfront parcel alone probably worth what was paid for everything so far although they are doing a remarkably great job restoring the boulevard shoppes….looks truly amazing….

Sadly agree
Their project was revolutionary but the A holes in N FL and Orlando couldn’t deal with Miami advancing

Revolutionary in that it followed a model of urban development that’s been outdated for more than 50 years. Not sure if this is done, but if it is, we dodged a bullet with a resort that size on that property. That being said, I’m looking forward to something that actually helps the area continue to grow being built at some point (hopefully) in my lifetime.

“Dodge a bullet?” All Miami is doing is dodging something that could catapult it past the same ole ho hum that it’s been stuck in for the past fifty years.

The Tree removal is to accommodate Art Miami. They have rented out the lots for the next few years.

I know a lot of people were against the casino resort. I for one was for it because I can actually go enjoy myself there. You can’t enjoy a condo unless your millionaire, something that will sit there with no real purpose except for the rich. At least with a casino resort I will know what the inside looks like.

Question: If Resorts World Miami continues to progress along, as it seems to be doing now, will the fantastic, original design (as shown in their beautiful renderings) be used for the development? That original design would truly become a signature landmark representing Miami, much like Sidney’s world-famous Opera House does for them. Let us all know if that information is available at this time.
