Resorts World Negotiating To Lease Submerged City Land For Marina

Resorts World Negotiating To Lease Submerged City Land For Marina

Resorts World Miami is in negotiations with the city of Miami to lease submerged land that is publicly owned, with plans to build a marina.

Only part of the submerged land is currently owned by the city of Miami.

Another part of the land was previously owned by the city, but deeded over to FDOT in order to build the MacArthur Causeway. FDOT says that they no longer need the property, and have agreed to deed it back to the city in order to lease it to Resorts World.

Miami commissioners will vote on accepting the deed back from FDOT at a December 14 meeting.

At some point the senate in Tallahassee caves in and will allow full gambling at this site. Genting will start building the next day.

Make it contingent on Genting building their Baywalk section now.

The Venetia is prime development to buy out the building. I would love to have the funds to start buying up the cheap units in be in good position when some big shot developer buys everyone out

Man… You are so correct… The footprint of Venetia could support twin towers… All directly on bay… There are lots of cheap units there… And the views from those units are among the best in Miami

Along with replacing the proposed tower on the corner and shabby Diocese house in between, it would make a great land assemblage, and could be taller if air rights are sold by Trinity Cathedral.

I agree. The views are amazing. I too wouldn’t be surprised if some developer buys out the unit owners in the distant future for a mega development!

It would be nice to see a classy marina replace the homeless “zombie” camp. Remember the bath salts incident?

For now, you’ve got a tent city… wonder how long it’ll be till they come down?

yes… you are correct…i figure about 4-6 years of those tents….based on opening of basel last night i would think it was a major success

Why… because you can’t trust yourself in one?

Absolutely the best views ….the building also already has an existing marina ….bay walk behind ….and could support twin 600 plus foot towers …its just a matter of time before Venetia disappears….lots of owners would sell now because 40 year certification is coming fast……..

I was always a fan of the architecture of this project. I would say build it with limited gambling in hopes that Tallahassee will rule in their favor. To just let the land sit there I don’t think helps their case. When they build it and Tallahassee sees the project then that may sway their decision.

It’s not Tallahassee that needs to be swayed…. It’s Disney … And as long as they buy the politicians as has been the case all along genting may never be able to move forward ….

It’s also more local than that. You think Mickey Arison/Carnival Cruises or the Fountainbleau Hotel want casino competition next door?
