Revealed: 3 Towers Proposed At Former Miami Arena Property

Plans have just been submitted to the Urban Development Review Board to build three towers at the former Miami Arena site.

Three towers are proposed to rise 615 feet, 589 feet, and 577 feet, with the tallest at 54 stories.

The proposal includes:

  • 2,346 dwelling units
  • 30,535 square feet commercial
  • 2,078 parking spaces on level 2 through 8 (parking garages to be partially lined with residential)

Outdoor amenity decks and indoor lounges are planned for the rooftops of all three towers. Even larger pool and amenity areas are planned above the parking podiums.

A large ground floor supermarket does not appear to be a part of the plans as once shown. Instead, smaller retail spaces are planned.

Kobi Karp is the architect.

Witkoff is the developer.

The UDRB meeting is scheduled for June 21.

Idk what I expected but this wasn’t it. I was thinking something like BCC or Paramount but hey at least we have more density coming smh seems like a lost opportunity but what do I know 🤷🏽‍♂️

Yep.
This site and its former “convention center” Marriott was a lot of the reason Genting’s Destination Resort got shot down.

Anonymous

Genting would have built their own convention center.

It was 100% about casino rights or lack thereof

Great infill. I like how the balconies are aligned. If designers want to do something they should go all the way with the design, otherwise safe is better.

I feel disappointed.
And its not even the buildings so much as the layout.
I saw the site plan. They are using so much of the lot for additional streets and car circulation.
Just seems like such a waste.
The overall design and layout feels very meh.
Was hoping for something a little more special and thoughtful for this large site.

You hit the nail on the head. And don’t forget this is directly adjacent to the most transit rich area in the city – brightline, tri rail, metro rail, metro bus, and metro mover.

Can’t expect much from a city that cares more about profits than good urban planning!

It’s a bad plan if it DOES NOT make profit. No matter what your Antifa professor tells ya!

There’s nothing wrong here but there’s nothing particularly great either. I was hoping for something more unique.

Such a boring design. This looks dated before even being built. I’m sure we all expected glass facade, unique design. This isn’t it.

The trend of twin towers is, frankly, a bit lazy. Developers deserve to make money but they could at least push themselves to deliver something architecturally Interesting even if it needs to be value engineered.

deserve to make money? how about earn their money?

I agree 100%. Its lazy, but mostly greed. Less money for the engineering and architecture, and less complex project overall, so its gets built faster. They should at least make one tower shorter or change the architecture styling, even if the inside stays the same

Not impressed with the architecture but those empty lots need to be filled yesterday.

Could have been more special in the design, but at least the retail is not one giant space. This will be its redeeming quality if that holds true

I hated the old design but it was so much nicer and it included a convention center😢

Pretty basic, but much needed inventory…

Anonymous

Nice, but kind of bland and stumpy.. Each tower should’ve had a 100 ft height difference or more. I hope the design and project gets altered before it gets approved.

so boring … you’d think for the money and time going into this someone would have some pride in delivering something that looks better than this. Good news … will not take away from Legacy and Okan and the 11’s … and will help make Brickell look better by comparison

Brickellitis

Yeah making an area of the city you live in look worse so your oh do precious Brickell can look better is a great idea. Brickell is over crowded, over priced, and only has one or two decent restaurants. Julia and Henry’s is better than anything Brickell has to offer. And it’s just the start of the revitalization of that area. Downtown will have culture while Brickell will have obnoxious people trying to prove to each other how cool they are. Stay on your side of the river 🤗

keep cluttering up downtown while doing ZERO to improve the infrastructure or transportation. as of right now, all of downtown is nearly unnavigable, and only getting worse.

Bruno

You would have be whoafully inept if you can’t “navigate” downtown.

There are at least a Billion dollars in infrastructure projects between Flagler and 15th Street alone and a few billion in the pipeline.

No, those two lots are south of this lot. Adjacent to the east of Government Center. Directly north of the new civil courthouse building site.
