Miami Dade College today unsealed the four proposals that were submitted for 520 Biscayne, according to The Real Deal.

Related Group and Pi Art Tech and Trade Center’s plans were revealed to the public for the first time.

Related Group:

Arquitectonica-designed 75-story tower with 350 condo units, along with a 39-story tower with 500,000 leasable square feet of office and 100 hotel rooms. The plan also includes a 3,020-seat theater, 45,000-square-foot museum, 35,900-square-foot rooftop sculptural garden, and 33,750-square-feet programmable space. Estimated construction cost: $673 million

Pi Art Tech and Trade Center at MDC, LLC:

An 80-story, 1,100-foot tall tower designed by Richter Dahl Rocha & Associés of Switzerland, with World Trade Centers Association a partner. It will include 820,000 square feet of office space, 210,000 square feet of condominiums and 68,000 square-feet of retail. A museum would host the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation. Dear Related,
You really need to get rid of Architechtonica.

Related projects couldn’t get any uglier. What a shame for Arquitectonica

Related should definitely not be involved. 2 more square boxes? That was striking in the 60s and 70s. Have they ever been to Dubai or any Asian city to see the architecture of the 21st Century?

The Related proposal is boring! Please don’t pick it.

You are right! Phallic alone and a few colored lights just does not do it all these days… and how did they get rights to use the Apple logo or insinuate an Apple Store / so, go figure?

Pi Art for sure.
I keep saying it. Architectonica is stuck on the same boring design for years. What a shame for Miami. Wish Perez would work with other creative and artistic architects.

Arquitectonica must die. Just the name alone makes me shudder. Will Perez build anything with another architect, ever?

I like the Pi art tech 1000 footer. Just looks so clean and sharp. That’s my first choice.

My second would be the Laam by Nader.

Related design clashes with the Freedom Tower while Pi Art enhances it.

I choose either the 1,000ft Pi Art Tech World Trade Center or the Chinese-looking arch building.

The other two are just typical double-towers-on-a-pedestal that look like half of downtown already.

The Nader design is typical here in Miami? Hyperbole much?

Two towers on top of a pedestal is not typical in Miami?

Two Towers

Really? Axis, Quantum on the Bay, Grove at Grand Bay, Brickell Heights…….

Besides, a large office tower in the heart of the expanding downtown versus more luxury condos? I’ll take the office tower

I pick the 1000ft ” Pi art tech trade center. “…wow. That looks very nice erected on our skyline. For just a second, I thought I was looking at a major Asian metropolitan city.

As much as I like some of the other proposals I would say we need Pi Art Tech to build that building. That’s what I call a signature building something different that will change our skyline. Hopefully it will encourage other architect firms catering to Miami to go outside the box and be more innovative. Please MDC choose this building or let the public as well as the students choose the buliding they like most. I’m sure I’m not the only one that would choose this building.

Knowing how things work in Miami the Related Groups proposal will be selected because it will be cheaper. That’s the problem with Architectonica, they get choosen for the job each and every time because they build things really cheap. They don’t care about being innovative because they know all they have to do is design the cheapest building possible. People like Related could care less about the design because they are all about profit, so choose the ugliest cheapest design put a bow on it and a pricetag an rush it to market.

This is what happens when you ask developers to rush a bid with a 30 day deadline for such an important and unique property that is so centrally located. Predictably bland and un imaginative proposals here folks. Give the job to the Gary Nadar proposal if you want to make an architectural statement to the world that Miami has arrived.

Wrong. The bidding officially opened November 4 till the deadline on January 19.

I can’t stop looking at the Pi art tech and trade center rendering. That structure just fits naturally in the skyline while being different. Look at the rendering of the Pi art tower at night time. WOW. very nice. My first choice as well.

LOL…oh man, I’m sorry, but i can’t stop laughing at the Related/Architechtonica rendering. If you paint faces on those two boxes, the box on the left looks like it’s whispering to the box on the right or their having a conversation. lol.

If the Pi art tech doesn’t get the bid, I think that very same Pi art structure should be built anyway on another lot. Would be a shame not to use that very design. Has an International flair to it that I like.

Oppenheim, the only proposal that isn’t listed here, is my first choice. Adds a unique dimension to the skyline.

MDC should think big, build all four designs. Get rid of that ugly garage west of 520 Biscayne. They own the four lots at the intersection of NE 2nd ave and NE 5th street. All four towers would complement each other…

But yet no one talks about the agreement that Dr. Padron and Terra Group Signed in 2005.

Some how Jorge Perez is trying get his dirty hands into everything. I rather see Nader than Perez ruin the skyline.

PI will have fun trying to lease out that much office space and high construction costs.

I changed my mind… Oppenheim is now #2, Pi Art is now #2. I’m not sure how economically sustainable the proposal is. I just really like the design.
