Russian Women Are ‘Flocking’ To Miami To Have Babies

Growing numbers of wealthy Russian women are travelling to Miami to give birth, according to NBC News and the Daily Beast.

Under U.S. law, babies born in the U.S. are immediately granted U.S. citizenship, which is the main draw. Better doctors are also cited, and good weather and a glitzy image makes Miami the destination of choice.

A Miami-born baby is now seen as a status symbol in Moscow, the report states.

Some companies are selling luxury packages that can cost as much as $100,000, while a bare-bones do-it-yourself approach costs around $20,000.

They should not be allowed to enter here. This is just an easy way for Russian’s to enter and take advantage of ss benefits.

You have to work to qualify for Social Security.
If you can afford 20 to 100 thousand to come here to give birth, you probably aren’t scamming food stamps.
I agree the law should change. Unfortunately, it will take a constitutional amendment because that’s the basis of birthright citizenship.

What if this child becomes disabled? He/she is US citizen. Who will pay benefits? Social security. This child will also be eligible for grant for college. And many other social benefits.

@BDub=>No, you don’t have to work to get Social Security benefits. Let me give you an example. I immigrated 25 years ago. Legally. Applied in my country, waited 2 years, went for an interview and got refugee status. My mother immigrated with me, she was 67 at the time. From the moment we landed in JFK she had medicare, Social Security monthly check(in 1992 minimum was $680, eventually it grew to $900 a month). She got 1 bedroom appt from Housing authority of Providence, RI, for $120 a month. She lived happy 14 years in USA, became a citizen too. Calculate how much tax payers paid for her. I was working from day 1, paid a lot if taxes and still do and I am grateful for what USA provided to my mother, who never worked a day in her life in USA. She paid back by volunteering in the hospital as interpreter. She spoke 7 languages.

Let’s not isolate just Russia. Hundreds of Muslim women come to NY, stay in luxury maternity hotel, give birth in the hospital next door and go home with US passport. Chinese prefer doing it in LA. Russians like Miami. There is a service called Miami Mama. Was under FBI investigation recently. And it’s not that expensive. $8K for birth, couple of months of cheap rent plus ticket and you get a US citizen, who will petition for immigration for his whole family 18 years later. Law needs to change.

I doubt most of them are doing it just to get their parents green cards. These are all wealthy people for the most part, and they can come and leave the US as they please. They’re not here looking for work or a free handout. That would be the ones jumping the border from central and south america.

Are they getting knocked up in Miami too, or are they just dropping fetuses here?

Maybe both

Nope. They arrive Very pregnant(7th-8th month). When they cross border, INS officer should be doing better job asking about purpose of visit. Go to Beach Club Condo in Hallandale. The whole beach are pregnant women, others with newborns. 21 days later they get US passport and fly back to Russia. But path to USA has started

Guess what folks – it’s not going to stop.

Bet you can find a lot of them lounging at Trump National Doral Miami

Why do you people have to put Trump spin on everything? They are staying everywhere, wherever they can rent for 3 months.

They are staying near the hospital in Miami, where the mother pays $10,000 to the hospital to have a Tourist Baby. Or “investment baby”, as the unemployed father call it.

Except Trump wants to end birthright citizenship for obvious reasons it’s heavily abused. It’s an outdated concept from when we had no means of keeping track of immigrants and children they had in the early twentieth century.

What an outlandish comment.

It started hundreds of years ago, way before Trump. My aunt gave birth in 1976 and both her son and herself received citizenship right away. Later it changed, just baby gets US passport. It’s a very old problem. Nobody addressed it before Trump. #MAGA

This is not against the terms of the visa?

Anonymous

Why should a little technicality stop them?

BDub

Depends on the exact terms of the visa. If she gives birth while in the country legally, the baby is a US citizen, as long as she didn’t lie on the visa application.

INS law is 6 month max. They come for 3 months. But they do lie at the border. They don’t say that purpose of visit to give birth. They say “pleasure” vacation school break etc….

Just using public services without paying income tax. Dope.

Why doesn’t Trump say something about Russians doing this?!

Anonymous

Trump says it every day, but he doesn’t isolate 1 specific country. He talks about ANCHOR babies all the time. Have you not heard last 6 months of news? It’s not just Russians, many other countries abuse this law.

Since apprx 1978 the law has changed and only the baby gets US passport. before it was both – mom and baby. The issue is not new at ALL… But we are finally talking about it. There are so-called “maternity hotels” all over the country(NYC, Boston, LA, San Diego, Miami etc). Arabs, chinese, russian, ukranians and many more take advantage of the system. nowhere in the world will you be granted citizenship just for being born there. This is stupid and needs to change. These babies are “anchor” babies and drag along the whole big family through the back door. Meantime, we , tax payers, will have to provide them disability, grants, various social services while their parents didn’t pay One dollar in taxes. Wrong.
