Site Work Permits Issued At Miami Freedom Park

Miami’s Building Department has just issued site work permits for the property where Inter Miami’s stadium is planned.

Two separate permits were issued in the past few weeks.

The first was issued on July 14. It is for work estimated to be valued at $30,759,715, in the excavation/piles/site and soil improvement category.

The second permit issued on July 25 is for work estimated to be valued at $5,240,284 – also in the excavation/piles/site and soil improvement category, but for an adjacent address.

Downrite Engineering is listed as the contractor.

Demolition and tree permits for the property are still in the review process and are not yet issued, records show.

In June, Jorge Mas, the managing owner of Inter Miami, said that a green light to begin work was expected “any day now,” with work expected to begin within weeks.

Summer or early fall of  2025 is being targeted as the opening date for the new stadium, Mas said.

Melreese gate closed. A Google Maps listing states the golf course is permanently closed:

They have a proposed link to the transit station in the airport. That needs to be #1 priority and not just a nice-to-have. It would honestly be so stupid to not build it.

if its stupid not to build it then i would bet on it not being built….it will need 50 years of studies…lol….

I bet they’ll propose ANOTHER people mover to connect it to the Miami Airport Station, instead of extending Metrorail down Northwest 37th Avenue for another station, opening the door for further expanding down said street to Douglas Road Station and numerous stops in between to create a real transit corridor.

All they need is literally a pedestrian bridge with a nice inviting landing on both sides. It’s that simple. It would terminate at the sidewalk where you walk up to the MetroRail station

Who is they? Referencing your question, “they’ll propose ANOTHER people mover….”

Even the Gov’t is not stupid enough to propose all the MetroMover connections that the economic geniuses in The Next Miami forum propose.

What?
Who is they?
#1 priority for whom?

Have you ever taken the Orange Line on the Metrorail in your life?

What the hell is your contribution to society?

Really?
What is the cost, and who would have to pay for the capex and the opex?

On the one hand, I feel sorry, because I played a lot of golf there and I liked the course. On the other hand, I think it’s fantastic that Miami and the Miami Inter team are building the stadium and signing a star like Messi. After all, it is the most popular sport in the world and Miami will host the World Cup.

Great space for future mega concerts! Can they have tennis opening here too? Not a huge soccer fan but that could change with this coming to Miami!

I played a few times….it’s nice.
No Miami Beach Golf Club or Crandon Park, but it’s nice.
Great to have all the community programming and all the great work associated with the First Tee programs.

If The Next Miami were are real estate site, the people with real estate knowledge would share the fact that there are a lot of acres that are not utilized to their highest and best use.

Smart people would say, there a lot of acres. More than a golf course, or soccer field needs.
In fact, that is what the smart people are doing (probably with the help of underpaid county commissioners).

Suffice it to say….that is a hell of a lot of land.

An exclusive Golf course (even if Muni) is not the Highest and Best Use of real estate.

Why tf is there so much open grass with no shade? I swear these planners forget where we live.

Anon

so rainfall and sunlight can make it to the grass so it can grow

Because that’s what we need, more Kentucky bluegrass and less Floridian trees. I’m sure those oversized lawn patches are going to get tons of use from nobody.

Agree. This isn’t Paris!!

Because it’s easy and cheap to design and build. It’s such a shame that the city/county allows endless acres of grass with a ring of trees around it to count for urban park space.

If they use a prefabricated system like they did in FTL this could actually get done relatively quickly

Another beaut by Downrite Engineering!

It’s taken so long for this stadium…. to add more injury they will be playing and practicing in Broward for years before the games move here. Lots of players buying property up north and bypassing Miami. Shame.

Broward welcomed them with open arms – Miami could not have made it more difficult. Our citizens revolted at nearly every proposal – I’d go to Lauderdale too.

and, yet they STILL want to play in Miami. bwaaahahahahaha

I also predicted the Broward migration and for sure, why wouldn’t they extend the red carpet. Guess who is getting all the $$$? The city of Miami should have given them anything to play while the stadium was built. But I guess they can’t predict what is happening.

There were rumors for a while about the temporary stadium being built in Tropical Park instead of Fort Lauderdale but I think they had a better deal for the team or something

Bro they are all buying homes in Lauderdale what are you talking about..?

Miami could not have made it more difficult ? I agree , Beckham wanted to build in downtown but they would n’t let him , he then tried to build in the grounds of marlins park and they made it very difficult for him . he tried to build a temporary stadium at amelia park but did not get any support from local politicians.

Anon

Exactly. Beckham was met with tremendous opposition every site he proposed – from both the city and the public. He went somewhere where they were happy to have him.

Sven

Wow.
You really do not know what you are talking about.

Having met Beckham and discussed this topic, I can tell you that the market requires a Miami venue (not Broward Co.) to succeed long-term.

When you are under 25 years old, time seems different. Beckham, and anyone with the real ability to change the world are 40+ years old. They are able to wait out situations, they are able to assess situations, and they are going to make great deals when the time is right.

That’s okay.
More domestic violence for the Broward County statistical records.
Soccer players can only beat up woman.

When confronted by the average (or below average) American male, any of these soccer players immediately fall down, cry, feign some injury, and expect to be lauded as a player in the “beautiful game”.

My friend Ru thinks that the “Beautiful Game” is Project Runway.

Expect a major airline like Qatar or Emirates for naming rights because it’s near the airport. Maximum exposure when departing.. Approx $350+ million for shirt sponsor and Miami stadium name..

Hearing Royal Caribbean.. might put some money..maybe Burger King, not FPL or American Airlines too cheap..

Also expect Hard rock hotels to building a small hotel there because there’s already 6 different nearby hotels and HardRock 2 yrs ago almost signed with inter.. since Messi and HRC is a South Florida brand…makes more sense

Ready by Summer 2025??? That means it’ll be finished by 2027, at best. Messi will be retired by then. It is shameful that Messi is playing at Lockhart Stadium, no matter how they name it now, it is the “remodeled” Lockhart Stadium. Thank you, Miami politicians!

The house that Messi buit

Just me

I sure hope the “house” gets a makeover. In its current state, its mediocre at best. I hope that now, with so many people who never cared for the sport (including me), talking about it, we will get an award-winning stadium design. Notice I didn’t use the “I” word.

recent design is bullshit…….what a waste of opportunity for something great.

anonymous

Huge missed opportunity on that stadium. Its been watered down so much from the original plans bc the only thing the Mas bros care about are profits. Stadium looks blah for a new one being built.

Really need to extend metro rail down 37th ave and to Marlins Stadium. Went to World Baseball Classic and it was. Nightmare.

We’ll be lucky if we get a stadium this decade.
They should be called Inter Ft Lauderdale.
