Crews have been digging at the site in recent days. The developer pulled a demolition permit for the property, located at 2901 Northeast 1st Avenue, in mid-December.
Miami’s Planning & Zoning Department issued final approval for the project in August 2016, but permits for the foundation and structure have not yet been approved by the city’s Building Department. City records show that the developer has been working in recent days to obtain them.
Developer Wood Partners plan for Midtown 8 calls for a 28-story rental tower with 387 apartment units, 29,549 of retail, and 519 parking spaces. The company paid $25 million for the site in November.
