At PortMiami an under construction cruise terminal that architects say will be iconic is now getting its skin installed.
Norwegian Cruise Line began construction on the $100 million terminal last year. Ships with as many as 5,000 passengers will be able to use the facility.
Both Norwegian and architect Bermello Ajamil promised that the final result will be an iconic structure that contributes to Miami’s skyline. Design of the spiraled and multi-level facade was inspired by the nautilus. At night, a lighting scheme will illuminate the structure.
Royal Caribbean’s “Crown of Miami” terminal, which also features unique architecture, was completed last year on an adjacent site.
Completion of Pearl of Miami is scheduled for November 2019.
