Skyrise Hires Contractor, Groundbreaking Set For Second Quarter 2019

Skyrise has selected a contractor and set a groundbreaking date.

Plaza Construction was hired as the project’s general contractor, according to The Real Deal, citing a press release.

Groundbreaking is set for the second quarter of 2019, with excavation already underway in the past few weeks. Completion is scheduled for 2023.

Skyrise is approved by the FAA at 1,045 feet above ground level, and 1,049 feet above sea level. Miami’s tallest building is now Panorama Tower, which stands 876 feet above sea level.

Arquitectonica is the architect.

Hate to break it to you guys, this project is the best thing happening downtown Miami. One day, this will be the iconic symbol of Miami and the catalyst for transforming downtown into a thriving entertainment venue.

If this project is the best thing happening downtown, then downtown is really pathetic.

Just build it already, it will be a nice tourist attraction that pairs well with a renovated Bayside.

The Bayside renovation looks pathetic from the renderings.

It’s really gonna take 4 years to build?

Anonymous

Its not going to have units inside of it so i’m not sure why isn’t taking so long either.

Anonymous

Yup…should be by 3rd or 4th quarter of 2021.

Maybe the tower itself will top off in two years but the rides they want to put in might be causing the 4-year timeline.

It will be one of those structures you want to go up in, because then you don’t have to see it.

Downtown DNA nimby.

I don’t object to the location, just that personally I think the design was inspired by a bobby pin. Build away.

It will be done just in time for when Ultra comes back to Bayfront in a few years.

I have been watching this project for quite some time. I’m very excited about it because of what it is an the entertainment aspect but no so much for looks. It’s not an office of residential tower so it doesn’t have to look like it. We have some very ugly buildings in Miami an I dont think this looks bad. It could have been better but compared to other observation towers it actual looks good and has a whole lot more to offer. It really is one of a kind something that has never been done in any build of its kind ever! Have you guys even been to the website to see all the amazing things planned for this unique building? Your so fixed on looks you haven’t even given it a chance! All these cities across the world have way more to offer than Miami. Yet every time something is proposed that will give Miami more to offer you guys hate it. You guys love some of the designs of these condos popping up yet you will never step foot in it without getting escorted out so why does it matter? This structure may not look as good as you guys want it to, but at least you will be able to enjoy what it has to offer.

If this gets built, from then on where ever I travel in this world, I’m not telling people I’m from Miami because I don’t want to begin to try and explain what this thing is.

I have a sense you don’t travel much anyways so problem solved!

Come on guys, where is your sense of whimsical, fun architecture?
it will be an awesome entertainment option for Miami. Great way to go!!!!!

Anonymous

Don’t have a problem with “whimsical, fun architecture,” it’s just that this thing should not be in the forefront of Miami’s Skyline, it’s just too quacky looking!

Anonymous

I think it looks great and moreover, it will be fun to have an observation deck in the middle of the bay. The views are going to be phenomenal, not to mention all the activity with the rides and tourism dollars!!!
