Sneak Peek: Inside Brightline’s Terminal At MiamiCentral

Finishing touches are being put in place at Brightline’s MiamiCentral station.

Trains are now regularly pulling into the station for testing, and the first passengers should be able to ride the high-speed rail to Fort Lauderdale within weeks.

Tri-Rail is also coming to MiamiCentral, but it has been delayed. The Federal Railroad Administration requires additional safety protocols which still have not been passed. It could start sometime in 2019, according to Miami Today.

There’s a series of engraved pavers at the station entrance, with the names of lawyers, a broker, an engineer, and others who worked on the project:

Any news on the new Amtrak station at the airport?

Anonymous

The other day, I had to pick up a couple of friends who had taken Amtrak from DC. What a pathetic, embarrassing station!!! Imagine boarding Union Station and disembarking in the middle of a decrepit, in the middle of nowhere station.
Amtrak should build it either at the airport to connect with Metrorail and buses or downtown.
Have to admit, this happens only in the USA!

The Amtrak station exists already at the airport in the Intermodal center where the Tri-Rail stations is located. What I meant to ask is when will the Amtrak service to Miami Int’l airport begin? I don’t understand whats the delay

Anonymous

The Amtrak trains are too long for the platform. Somebody goofed when the platform lengths were being planned. Seriously, I’m not kidding.

Only in Miami…

Having lived abroad, I wish this is something we could just suck up with something makeshift.

Regulations, safety, and lawsuits though. One of the downfalls of pragmatic solutions in America.

“only in the USA” so you want more state own rail companies that have regular massive union strikes like they do in France and the U.K ?

Arno

Have you been to France? Have you traveled by Train and been in the trains/stations…have you traveled during a strike, which typically doesn’t affect more than 25% of the traffic and at that point, is still miles ahead of the service we enjoy here.
Let’s be honest if we’re going to have an honest conversation. Comparing transportation infrastructure in Miami to European countries is apples to oranges, partly because Miami doesn’t even seem to want to really get there (replacing cars, offer a true alternative with coverage and convenience)…

there’s literally 200 feet of space available for them to extend the rail but they don’t want to tear down a structure they built or they don’t want to fix it by addmitint fault or maybe Amtrak is going to Miami central

Roy

They said Amtrak okayed the platform length. So they decided to fix it by creating and additional street beyond 25th Street and thus temporarily close 25th street to accommodate those extra cars – but not all trains the going therefore will be so long for the platform in place, only some trains at certain times of the year. And the additional streets have been done with red lights and ready to go – still waiting.

Thanks for the great pixs. I never take them for granted.

brightline ft lauderdale has tons of homeless right next to it because of the broward county bus terminal

Anonymous

Hmmm… wonder why the local news in Fort Lauderdale haven’t reported on that?

Are you better informed than they are?

Could fit in any major city. Miami is growing up. No pun intended.

Anonymous

Great, but I am concerned that the homeless will use it as an air conditioned shelter in summer.

Anonymous

Well if you are that concerned, when it opens, why don’t you stand outside and make sure the homeless don’t come inside.

Anonymous

Well, it will be difficult to distinguish between homeless people and you smartypants..

Anonymous

So, what you are admitting is that you are just some scared little punk casting dispersion on people who are down an out and that makes you feel superior.

Tim

Has NOTHING to do with ‘people who are down an out.
It has everything to do with litter, pissing everywhere and the associated odors, smelly people whom refuse to shower.
Just walk by some of the local transit stations and open your nose. These people can shower. They do not have to piss on the sidewalk. They do not have to throw their litter everywhere.

Know what you are talking about before you speak!!! PLEASE!!!

Anonymous

“Just walk by some of the local transit stations and open your nose.”

Why don’t you name the “local transit stations” where YOU know this is happening?

Anonymous

Most are willingly on drugs.

Anonymous

Oh, so you know this because you’ve been out on the streets counseling the homeless?

BDub

Isn’t it privately owned? If so, Brightline should be able to control that, right?
I’m not an attorney, so just asking.

Anonymous

Its private property and not own by the county or city so Brightline will most likely deny them entry. Unless a liberal halfway video tapes a incident involving a black male refusing to leave the property and resisting arrest.

Martim

Why does he have to be black?

Anonymous

Because if hes not black and getting kicked out the media wouldn’t care.

Anonymous

Absolutely correct

Anonymous

That means the justice system would care. Let them had tried that BS on some white people, the local authorities would shut that place down.

Anonymous

Don’t worry, Faux news will be right there to pounce on it. They enjoy publicizing negative reports on black people, much like you.

Anonymous

Hell, as far as Faux News is concerned, they should’ve been taken outside, lined up against the wall, and executed!

Anonymous

Or unless Trump and his Con buddies have ICE patrolling MiamiCentral station and using their gestapo style tactics by asking people for their papers and ID. You know, like what they’re doing on Greyhound buses in Florida right now?

Anonymous

gestapo style tactics ? They are enforcing immigration laws and not sending people to death camps. You leftist don’t live in reality.

Anonymous

Um yeah, sure, and what you’re saying is that gives them the right to walk around in this place and harass anybody they think is illegal. Face it, you Cons wanna turn this country into Hitler’s Germany.

I’m an immigrant but I waited my duly time. We can’t have anarchy in this country.

You’re an immigrant?

That means you have more rights than 99.9% of black people who were born and raised in this country.

Anonymous

You’re talking about “we can’t have anarchy in this country, and you’re an immigrant. The Orangeman hates you just as much as anyone else, especially if you’re from one of those shithole countries, which I suspect you are.

Multilingual and have traveled the world? Well I guess you consider Central America, the world! Multilingual? If you consider spanish and broken English as being multilingual.

Anonymous

Not against immigrants but try sneaking in any other country in the world, including Mexico and see what can happen. Why should we be different? We need to have control of who comes in and out. You must think it’s still 1945 and not in the real world we live in.
Please land in the present

Slamming Trump’s Lack Of Consistency

Fox’s Charles Krauthammer: Trump’s Immigration Shift “Undermines Everything He’s Ever Said, And You Have To Question, Did He Ever Mean It?” Fox contributor Charles Krauthammer criticized Trump’s new position on immigration, saying, “This is not evolution; this is a complete turnabout,” and arguing that the alleged shift “undermines everything he’s ever said, and you have to question, did he ever mean it?” From the August 24 edition of Fox News’ Special Report with Bret Baier:

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: Well, you know, if this is evolution, this is like a platypus going to sleep and waking up as a pussy cat. That has really never happened in the history of any of our species. This is not evolution; this is a complete turnabout, And the worst thing is not just that it’s a change of policy. It’s that, look at what happens to the underlying logic. The logic of the policy was, this is what — this was the tent pole of his campaign. The politicians are idiots. The politicians are stupid. The politicians are sold out. They don’t care about you. And what did he say? We don’t have borders. We don’t have a country. They are all flocking in. They are killers, they are rapists, and the country is a divided crime scene, as he said in his speech at the convention, as a result of this, and now he tells us oh, the laws are wonderful as administered by Bush and Obama. I don’t want to change any of it. I will be a little more energetic. That undermines everything he’s ever said, and you have to question, did he ever mean it? I think the answer is probably no. [Fox News, Special Report with Bret Baier, 8/24/16]

Anonymous

Funny, you would think STARBUCKS had their own security cameras… so why would a “liberal halfway” have to be there video taping the incident?

Anonymous

Because bigots like you would rather entertain the idea that the two young black men were up to no good, rather than seeing the situation for what it is, “Racial Discrimination/Racial Profiling”

Anonymous

Yep, you’re just another idiot who lacks reading comprehension.

Brightline has their own security officers… usually 4 or 5 per station
