Negotiations between Bayside owner General Growth Properties and City of Miami officials are ‘not going well’ according to Al Crespo, published of the Crespogram.
According to Crespo, several sources within the city told him last week that if not for pressure to get a deal done for Skyrise, talks would probably have broken off by now.
Even without a deal, developer Jeff Berkowitz could still break ground on the project soon. The project’s approval from the FAA stipulates that construction must begin by June 12th, and commissioners voted to allow foundation work to begin before then. A public referendum could be held later this year if GGP and the city agree to terms for a new lease.
