Stripe Names Miami Fastest Growing Startup Hub In US

Miami is growing faster than any other startup hubs in a new ranking release by Stripe.

Stripe is a payment processing firm, putting it in position to see startup growth.

“Miami’s growth has indeed been quite striking in our data: detected breakout companies are up by 89% in 2021/2022 as compared to 2016/2017,” Stripe said in a letter.

Miami also now ranks higher than Austin as one of Stripe’s to startup hubs in the US.

In the US, only the Bay Area, New York, and Los Angeles now rank higher than Miami as a startub hub, Stripe said.

The only startup hub worldwide that grew faster than Miami over the past five years was Tokyo, according to the ranking.

Why? I’m a local and excited for more opportunities. Don’t have to move out of state for career.

Don’t worry, we can totally surpass Tokyo and their world-class transit system by extending dinky little Metromover to Wynwood!

In Japan right now. One smartphone app works on all of the subways and buses, which go everywhere. You can set your watch by the arrival time of the trains.

This is great news! the city keeps growing and developing. Hopefully these startups will bring great high-paying jobs to the city. The city needs to build more office and retail space in the core (especially Brickell, as that is where the existing business infrastructure is) as well as emerging areas like Park West and Wynwood

This is great news and don’t get me wrong I’m all about Miami. But, I still don’t see the city moving into a world class level. Our leaders are not to the task, there is no sense of community and the infrastructure is not there.

Let’s not be So Negative

Because Miami is a transient city. A lot of people who move to Miami aren’t staying in Miami.

Miami’s success didn’t happen overnight. But we still have a long way to go to break away from a tourism-economy to become a knowledge-economy. Having a local university rank in the top 25 one day, better public transportation, and the right government leadership can pave the way, but historically public entities are not catalyst of innovation, unless they can attract the right talent, ideas, and investors, to create an entrepreneurial ecosystem. Now, about that MiamiCoin debacle… lol

How about a commission that heads to Tokyo and bring some start ups at far cheaper price than doing business over there..

My net worth growth was the highest of anyone in the US last year. Higher than Bezos and Musk combined. Went from $5 to $50K. I am sure those boys are in fear of their demise and wish they could trade places with me cause they know it is only a short time before they are looking up at me! This place, man, this place.
