A recent survey confirms that Miami has one of the largest Jewish populations in the country (via JTA).
Five percent of respondents to the survey in Miami identified themselves as Jewish. Only New York (eight percent) and Boston (six percent) ranked higher.
By raw numbers, the Jewish population in the Miami area is believed to exceed 500,000. Only New York (2 million) and Los Angeles (600,000) have higher numbers.
A separate study last year showed that Miami’s Jewish population increased last decade for the first time since 1975, with the largest increase in the under-35 age group. Downtown Miami’s Jewish population tripled during that time period.
