At Brickell City Centre’s North Squared Lot, a pre-fab structure has been installed.
Developer Swire Properties has said they are planning a temporary fire station on the lot.
Building Department records show that the North Squared construction project includes, 1,640 square feet of pre-fab structure, along with an aluminum canopy and screen wall gates.
The estimated construction cost is listed on the permit at $288,000.
Origin Construction is listed as the contractor.
The status of the fire station was brought up in 2022, when Swire requested zoning changes needed for the One Brickell City Centre supertall tower it is planning.
Swire had agreed to build a permanent fire station in 2019, as part of the approval for two new mostly-residential Brickell City Centre towers that will be built on the Tobacco Road and Associated Photo properties.
The developer commenced construction permitting in 2019 for a temporary fire station to be built on the North Squared lot that will be in place until the permanent station is built inside one of the new towers.
The city then halted the permitting process for the temporary station, but later allowed it to resume, a representative of the developer told commissioners last year.
The permanent fire station will be in one of these two new towers, while the temporary station will be on the North Squared lot across from the former La Centrale.
